Job Description

Role & responsibilities


Recruitment & Staffing:

  • Lead the recruitment process for hotel staff, ensuring the right fit for all positions across various departments (front office, housekeeping, food & beverage, etc.).
  • Collaborate with department heads to assess staffing needs and develop job descriptions.
  • Oversee employee onboarding, ensuring a smooth and efficient induction process for new hires.
  • Coordinate with recruitment agencies, job boards, and universities to attract top talent.

Employee Relations & Engagement:

  • Foster a positive work environment by managing employee relations, handling grievances, and resolving conflicts in a timely and professional manner.
  • Promote employee engagement initiatives and ensure alignment with the hotel's culture and values.
  • Organize employee recognition programs to celebrate achievements and milestones.
  • Ensure open communication between staff and management through feedback systems, surveys, and regular meetings.

Performance Management:

  • Oversee the hotels performance appraisal system, ensuring timely evaluations and goal-setting.
  • Assist department heads with managing underperforming employees and creating performance improvement plans.
  • Monitor and report on employee satisfaction, turnover rates, and retention strategies.

Training & Development:

  • Identify and implement training programs to ensure that hotel employees are equipped with the skills and knowledge to perform their roles effectively.
  • Develop and deliver leadership training programs to foster internal growth and promote employees to managerial positions.
  • Conduct regular training for customer service excellence, safety protocols, and compliance with hotel standards.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Administer compensation and benefits programs in line with the hotels policies and industry standards.
  • Ensure that payroll is processed accurately and on time, including overtime, gratuities, and bonuses.
  • Manage employee benefits programs, including health insurance, leave entitlements, and retirement plans.

Compliance & Legal:

  • Ensure compliance with labor laws, health and safety regulations, and industry standards in all HR-related matters.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and ensure confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Advise on legal matters related to employment contracts, terminations, and workplace policies.

Staff Scheduling & Workforce Management:

  • Oversee the preparation of work schedules to ensure sufficient staffing levels across all departments, particularly during peak seasons.
  • Monitor attendance, leave management, and overtime to ensure operational efficiency.

HR Strategy & Planning:

  • Work closely with hotel leadership to develop HR strategies aligned with the hotels goals and objectives.
  • Implement strategies for employee retention, talent development, and succession planning.

Health, Safety & Wellbeing:

  • Ensure that the hotel follows health and safety regulations and creates a safe working environment for all employees.
  • Promote employee wellbeing initiatives, including mental health support and stress management programs.

Preferred candidate profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Hospitality Management, or a related field (Master's preferred).
  • Proven experience (5+ years) as an HR Manager, ideally within the hospitality or hotel industry.
  • Strong knowledge of labor laws, HR best practices, and hospitality-specific regulations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to manage conflict and handle sensitive issues.
  • Proficiency in HR software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to multitask effectively.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage diverse teams.
