Shift Engineer - EOT Crane Mechanical

Role & responsibilities

• Plan and execute mechanical maintenance activities for EOT cranes to ensure maximum availability and reliability.
• Develop and implement preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance strategies for crane mechanical systems.
• Schedule and manage resources, tools, and materials required for crane mechanical maintenance.
• Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory, and safety norms related to crane mechanical maintenance.
• Conduct mechanical inspections, identify potential failures, and take proactive measures to avoid breakdowns.
• Perform breakdown analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
• Manage spare parts inventory by identifying critical mechanical spares and ensuring their availability.
• Oversee and execute shutdown maintenance, including inspection, repair, and documentation of mechanical components.
• Implement and document work permit systems, SOPs, SAP, and 5S for crane maintenance.
• Ensure proper contract management for outsourced mechanical maintenance services.
• Maintain and audit all documentation related to crane mechanical maintenance.

Preferred candidate profile

• Minimum 8 years of experience in mechanical maintenance of hot metal handling EOT cranes (Capacity 100T or more).
• Experience in crane revamping, assembly, erection, and commissioning of mechanical components.
• Strong knowledge of gearboxes, wheels, rope drums, hoisting mechanisms, couplings, rail alignments, and crane structures.
• Expertise in hydraulic and pneumatic systems related to EOT cranes.
• Hands-on experience in bearing replacement, rope sheave inspection, hook & tong maintenance, rail & wheel alignment, and lubrication systems.
• Understanding of brake systems (hydraulic & mechanical) and their maintenance.
• Ability to perform structural inspections and assess wear & tear of key crane components.
• Knowledge of welding, fabrication, and machining processes required for crane repairs.
• Experience in shutdown planning, breakdown analysis, and failure investigations.
• Proficiency in technical documentation, SAP, and maintenance management systems.
