Software Engineer

Work as a technical member of a team responsible to build large scale applications. You will apply your knowledge of building scalable, distributed applications and have the opportunity to work with new technologies & frameworks such as Python, ReactJS, PostgreSQL etc

Essential Functions include, but are not limited to the following.
You will be expected to:

• Your primary focus will be to ensure projects are developed in accordance with
• established engineering processes, adhering to scope, schedule constraints and agile project plans
• Contribute to all phases in the software lifecycle requirements analysis, solution design, development, and deployment
• Define and maintain high quality standards for the work undertaken and be responsible for the quality of your own and your teams deliverables
• Communicate and and work with cross functional teams
• Work closely with Product Managers to create the product & technology roadmap
• Mentor the less experienced team members and help onboard new team members
• Work closely with the management team to implement software engineering practices and uphold standards
• Suggest appropriate technologies and platforms to use to deliver customer requirements
• Improving and streamlining existing systems, requiring a keen attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality, maintainable, and future-proof code.
• Work effectively as part of a distributed team
• Participate in code reviews

Requirements
Key technical expertise areas expected for this role:

• Specialization in development utilizing Python & PostgreSQL/MySQL.
• Demonstrable ability to learn new programming languages and frameworks quickly
• Experience on JavaScript based frameworks like React.Js
• Good troubleshooting skills
• Strong problem-solving skills, and are adept at both backend and frontend development.
• Should be proactive, collaborative, and ready to tackle complex challenges in a fast-paced environment.

Additional areas that would add value:

• Experience with distributed systems with specific focus on security and scalability
• Strong understanding of Design Patterns & their application in system design
• Experience with TypeScript
• Using DevOps & Infrastructure tooling such as GoCD/Jenkins, Git
• Test Driven & Behavior Driven Development
• Experience with automated testing suites, like Jest or Mocha.
• Experience working in Agile Scrum/Kanban methodologies
