Senior Design Engineer- Fire Protection System

Role & responsibilities

Design Leadership and Technical Execution:

• Lead the design and drafting of fire protection systems (sprinklers, fire alarms, standpipes, and special hazard systems) compliant with IS, NBC, NFPA, and FM-Global standards.
• Develop detailed 2D and 3D layouts using AutoCAD, BIM, and Revit.
• Create comprehensive schematics, technical specifications, and project drawings.

Quantity Surveying and Planning:

• Oversee quantity take-offs and prepare accurate estimates for fire protection systems.
• Plan and manage project execution timelines, ensuring alignment with project requirements.
• Coordinate with stakeholders to resolve quantity-related and planning issues.

BOQ Preparation and Cost Estimation:

• Prepare detailed Bills of Quantities (BOQ) for fire protection projects.
• Conduct cost estimations, budget analyses, and optimize material costs.
• Evaluate vendor quotations to ensure cost-effective solutions.

Documentation and Reporting:

• Generate technical reports, proposals, and design documents.
• Review project specifications, architectural drawings, and related documentation to ensure accuracy.
• Maintain adherence to quality control standards and deadlines.

Collaboration and Coordination:

• Work closely with architects, contractors, and project stakeholders to integrate fire protection systems into designs.
• Perform site inspections and surveys to recommend effective fire protection solutions.
• Provide expert input during project meetings and reviews.

Training and Mentorship:

• Mentor junior engineers and draftspersons to enhance team expertise.
• Stay updated on advancements in fire protection technologies and standards.

Preferred candidate profile

Education:

• Bachelors degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering, or related field.

Experience:

• 8 to 10 years in fire protection design, quantity surveying, planning, BOQ preparation, and cost estimation.

Knowledge:

• Proficiency in IS, NBC, NFPA, and FM Global standards.
• Expertise in hydraulic calculations, pipe sizing, and pressure loss analysis.

Technical Proficiency:

• Advanced skills in AutoCAD and familiarity with Revit.
• Experience with hydraulic calculation software such as SPRINK.
• Proficient in MS Excel and MS Word.

Skills:

• Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
• Attention to detail and multitasking proficiency.
• Knowledge of fire alarm system design is advantageous.
