Profile : Java Developer

Job description :

eSthenos is looking for an experienced Java Developer who will help scale a proven fintech platform that already serves hundreds of thousands of rural households to get timely access to credit.

Your responsibilities will include :

1. Scaling the platform to support millions of customers and new clients

2. Developing and implementing strategies to reduce the time to market. This can mean either automation, modularizing common elements across the platform etc.

3. Develop new products which use the underlying platform in order to reach untapped market segments

4. Build out the automated test framework

The ideal candidate would be one who :

1. Is experienced in using Java to develop webapps

2. Hands on experience in designing and developing applications using Java EE platforms

3. Profound insight of Java and JEE internals (Classloading, Memory Management, Transaction management etc)

4. Experience in the Spring Framework

5. Experience in developing web applications using at least one popular web framework (JSF, Wicket, GWT, Spring MVC)

6. Understands that good coding practices are not just an engineering idiosyncrasy and is the backbone of having a sustainable and fast moving technical capability

7. Has experience leading and working with a team of developers to deliver good quality products

8. Does not use variable names like a,b,temp1, var1 etc.

9. Understands that 80% of the time code is meant to be read and writes it accordingly

10. Comfortable giving and receiving constructive criticism

11. Understands - DRY

12. Experience with test-driven development

13. Understands that merely reading about a technology is not good enough and one has to try it on their own and make one's own judgemen
