Position Summary:
The ideal person will be working on the cutting-edge technologies and will be playing a hands-on role.
He/she will be responsible for creating, develop, implement user story design, coding, testing and
support in producing high quality technical solutions using technologies such as Java . The person in this
role closely works with Scrum team members, Product Owner, Documentation engineers, Support
Engineers etc.
The Insurance Engineering team is dedicated to delivering peace of mind to our guests and hosts
through innovative insurance products. In 2022, we successfully launched guest travel insurance across
the US, Canada, the UK, and nine countries in the EU. As we look ahead, our focus is on expanding
global eligibility for guest travel insurance and developing scalable platforms to support this growth.
What youll do
Design and Develop: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to architect an implement robust
backend systems that provide exceptional travel insurance services for Airbnb guests
worldwide.
Build Scalable Solutions: Utilize your expertise in large distributed systems to develop backend
solutions that are reliable, performant, and scalable.
Resolve and Document: Lead the investigation and resolution of operational incidents, creating
comprehensive documentation and platform improvements to enhance system reliability and
minimize future issues.
Integrate Seamlessly: Ensure smooth and flexible integration of backend services with the
overall insurance platform, driving efficiency and innovation.
Uphold Quality Standards: Maintain and promote a high standard of code quality, reliability,
and best practices within the team.
What are we looking for
Bachelors degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
6+ years of hands-on experience in Java development.
Proficiency in Java and Kotlin,with experience in developing backend services, including
GraphQL.
Should have experience/knowledge in Javascript
Should have experience in SQL
Should have Hands on experience in API s
Should have good experience working in Insurance domain
Experience in Front end like React.Js is an added advantage.
Experience with unit testing frameworks, preferably JUnit.
Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.

Familiarity with growth engineering principles, such as A/B testing, funnel analysis, and
customer segmentation.
Demonstrated success in building high-quality products and effectively solving complex,
ambiguous problems involving multiple teams and systems.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Nice to Have:
Experience with cloud platforms (Azure).
Knowledge of database systems (SQL, NoSQL).
Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools.
