Job Description : Quality Head

Position Title : DGM (Quality Assurance)

Reports To : Plant Head

Location : IPL Biologicals Limited, Vadodara

Position Overview :

The Quality Head is responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and maintenance of quality management systems (QMS) within the organization. This role ensures that products, services, and processes meet defined standards of quality, and regulatory compliance, and exceed customer expectations. The Quality Head is a strategic leader, working closely with various departments such as production, R&D, and supply chain to drive continuous improvement in quality and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities :

1. Strategic Leadership:

- Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of the companys Quality Management System (QMS).

-Develop and execute quality strategies aligned with the companys goals and industry standards.

- Ensure adherence to all quality standards, including ISO, regulatory, and industry-specific guidelines, organic

certification like OMRI, INDOCERT, IMO

- Act as the key point of contact for all quality-related matters within the organization.

- Provide leadership in fostering a quality culture across the organization, promoting a customer-first approach.

2. Quality Assurance and Control:

- Oversee quality assurance processes to ensure products meet specifications and customer requirements of

products like bio fertilizers, bio pesticides, bio stimulants

- Develop, implement, and monitor testing and inspection processes, ensuring robust product quality of raw materials, packing material, in process quality standard.

- Manage quality audits (internal and external) and inspections to ensure adherence to quality processes.

- Collaborate with production and engineering teams to resolve quality issues and implement corrective actions.

3. Team Management and Development:

- Lead and mentor a team of quality assurance and control professionals, fostering a collaborative, results-driven culture.

- Conduct training programs on quality standards, compliance, and best practices to enhance the teams capability.

- Establish performance metrics and KPIs for the quality department, ensuring the team is meeting organizational goals.

- Managing three verticals of raw materials, process quality and packaging materials

4. Continuous Improvement:

- Identify opportunities for process improvement and lead initiatives to reduce waste, improve efficiency, and enhance product quality.

- Use statistical methods, root cause analysis, and other problem-solving tools to investigate and address quality issues.

- Lead Lean Six Sigma, Kaizen, or other quality improvement programs to streamline processes and reduce variation.

5. Regulatory Compliance and Reporting:

- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory standards (e.g., CIB&RC, FCO compliances).

- Prepare and submit quality reports, documentation, and compliance records to regulatory agencies, as required.

- Coordinate with R&D team to manage any product recalls, non-conformities, or regulatory inspections.

6. Customer Focus and Satisfaction:

- Analyze customer complaints, feedback, and product returns to identify trends and resolve recurring issues.

- Work cross-functionally sales, and marketing teams to improve customer satisfaction and retention.

Qualifications:

Education: PG/ M.Sc. or PhD degree in Microbiology/Biotechnology

Experience:

- Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in quality management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.

- In-depth knowledge of quality standards and certifications (e.g., ISO 9001, Six Sigma, Lean, GMP, OMRI, IMO, INDOCERT certificationetc.).

- Proven track record of driving process improvement initiatives and achieving measurable quality outcomes.

Skills and Competencies:

- Strong leadership and people management skills.

- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.

- In-depth understanding of quality control processes, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

- Ability to work collaboratively across functions and influence at all levels of the organization.

- Proficiency in quality management software and tools (e.g., Minitab, SAP QM, etc.).

Working Conditions:
