Project Manager

About the role:

As a project manager in the Product Engineering department, you will be accountable for delivery of product features for web and mobile. Development of features typically cuts across platform and product development teams, QA teams, benchmarking teams and UI/UX teams.

1) Responsible for Managing Scope

• Understand functional and non-functional requirements defined by the Product Line Managers (PLM)
• Negotiate scope with PLM along with Architects and Development Managers
• Prioritize the requirements to deliver a minimum viable product (MVP)
• Continuously manage the roadmap/backlog of the project

2) Responsible for Planning

• Work closely with the architects, development managers and QA managers
• for high-level estimation
• for early analysis of dependencies i.e., cross-team, infra, test-data, UI/UX
• for early analysis of risks
• for activity planning and sequencing of tasks
• for resource planning
• for arriving at final schedule

3) Accountable for Overall Delivery

• Tight control, monitoring and daily progress-reporting
• Work closely with other project managers for de-risking/mitigating and successful delivery
• Work closely with peers and other departments to resolve dependencies
• Work closely with development and QA to mitigate risks
• Work closely with QA to ensure top-class quality
• Ensure design/code/test-strategy/test case reviews are performed
• Ensure integration testing is performed
• Review the final delivery by understanding test reports and getting QA to conduct demos

4) Responsible for Communication

• Provide daily status reports to Program Manager
• Provide weekly status reports to Engineering, PLM [and customers, as-needed]
• Communicate risks and mitigation as needed
• Provide other metrics [ex: productivity metrics] as needed

Desired Experience:

• Desired to be from product development organization
• Should have worked in Waterfall and/or Agile process
• Should have good problem solving skills
• Should have excellent communication and presentation skills
• Should be able to communicate complex situations in a simple way
• Should have worked with medium/large sized teams of 10-15 developers
• Should have excellent customer focus - with deep understanding of functionality/domain
• Should be excellent at estimation and prioritization
• Should be a lateral thinker; who provides simple innovative solutions for complex situations
• Should be able to able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Familiarity with SaaS product constructs and cloud technology concepts
