Synthetic R&D Chemist

Responsibilities :

• Must be creative, have excellent technical and problem-solving skills and have the ability to work well in a team environment.
• Conducting experimental work for process development & optimisation.
• Assessing, reviewing and reporting data from own work, with a clear understanding of its reliability.
• Interpreting results, drawing authoritative conclusions and making recommendations based on sound scientific judgment
• Providing training and guidance to juniors on technical and functional processes
• Ensuring own work is performed in accordance with appropriate Safety, Health & Environment (SHE), Good Housekeeping and quality & compliance standards.

Desired Skills and Experience

To be considered for this position, successful applicants will have, or expected to achieve the following:

Education

Essential

• M.Sc. in Organic Chemistry with 2-3 years industrial experience

Desirable

• Consistently strong academic performance in university education

Experience

Essential

• Substantial experience in practical organic synthesis in industry

Desirable

• Previous lab-based experience of working in a Chemical/Pharmaceutical Company in the field of process development & optimization.
• Experience within a Process Chemistry/Scale up environment

Skills & Capabilities:

Technical Skills

Essential

• Excellent & up-to-date breadth of knowledge of Synthetic reagents, synthetic methodology, & reaction mechanisms.
• Rational approach to problem solving; makes judgments based on sound reasoning, approaches problems in logical way, using data to make sound judgments.
• Suggests ideas and impacts on work of others across research group

Desirable

• Good working knowledge of modern analytical techniques e.g. spectroscopy as well

as chromatographic.

• Strong team player
