Job Description
- Installing and upgrading the database server and tools
- Monitoring, allocating system storage and planning future storage requirements for the database system.
- Creating primary database storage structures (tablespaces) after application developers have designed an application.
- Creating primary objects (tables, views, indexes) once application developers have designed an application
- Modifying the database structure, as necessary, from information given by application developers
- Enrolling users and maintaining system security
- Ensuring compliance with database vendor license agreement
- Controlling and monitoring access to the database
- Monitoring and optimizing the performance of the database via query tunning and reducing long running quires
- Planning for backup and recovery of database information.
- Backing up and restoring the database as necessary.
- Contacting database vendor for technical support
- Generating various reports by querying from database as per need.
- Customer support for environmental issues and maintenance
- Creating data dictionary.
- Normalizing the database.
- Data conversions from different sources
