Position: Senior DevOps Engineer-AWS

Purpose of the Position: We are seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer with proficiency in Linux environment, specializing in system setup, administration, and network security. This role is responsible for implementing CI/CD pipelines(deployment), infrastructure as code (IaC), and monitoring systems to ensure scalable, reliable, and secure data operations. The ideal candidate will have a passion for automation, cloud technologies, and driving operational efficiency through modern DevOps practices.

Key Result Areas and Activities:

• Infrastructure management: Provision AWS EC2 instances using AWS CloudFormation or Terraform, implement CI/CD workflows using Jenkins, automate operational tasks through Ansible, facilitating efficient software deployment and configuration management
• System Setup and Administration: Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Linux and Windows systems, ensuring optimal performance and reliability. Responsible for Linux system administration, managing user accounts, ACLs, permissions, and system resources. 
• Network Security: Utilize in-depth knowledge of iptables and other firewall technologies to implement robust network security measures. Set up and manage systems like HAProxy or Nginx to enhance application scalability, availability, and load balancing. Design, deploy, and maintain Squid proxies and VPN solutions to secure network communication and provide controlled access.
• Environment Migration and Monitoring: Migrate workloads from IBM Cloud to AWS Cloud. Establish monitoring and alerting systems to proactively identify and address performance issues or anomalies.
• Collaboration And Stakeholder Management: Collaborate closely with business stakeholders to gather requirements, understand their needs, work with cross-functional teams in configuring system setup, security. Conduct regular meetings and presentations as required.

Essential Skills:

• Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, CircleCI, or AWS CodePipeline to automate the deployment of data services and pipelines
• Develop infrastructure as code (IaC) with AWS CDK and Terraform/Ansible to manage cloud-based data platforms like Apache Iceberg, Snowflake, and AWS services
• Collaborate with data engineering and platform teams to improve deployment processes, system reliability, and performance
• Implement observability and monitoring solutions with New Relic to track platform health, performance, and cost metrics
• Ensure platform security and compliance by automating identity management, access controls, and policy enforcement
• Optimize cloud infrastructure and pipelines to balance performance, scalability, and cost efficiency
• Ability to design and implement automation solutions for routine operational tasks using tools like Terraform and Ansible
• Ability to create and maintain infrastructure-as-code solutions using Terraform
• Ability to automate builds, deployments, monitoring, and alerting processes
• Expertise in AWS EC2 provisioning, setup SFTP, S3 buckets
• Proven experience in Linux, including system administration, user management, and resource optimization

Desirable Skills:

• Proficiency in CI/CD tools (e.g., GitHub Action, CircleCI, AWS CodePipeline)
• Hands-on experience with AWS CDK, Terraform, and container orchestration tools like Kubernetes
• Strong scripting skills in Python, Bash, or similar languages
• Experience with AWS services (e.g., S3, Glue, Lambda, Kinesis) and data platforms like Snowflake and Apache Iceberg
• Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools, particularly New Relic

Qualifications:

• 4+ years of experience as DevOps engineer with hands-on expertise    
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or related field (Master's degree is a plus)
• Demonstrates continued learning through one or more technical certifications or related methods
