Job Description

Title: E&I Supervisor

Location: Offshore Operations

Department: Maintenance

Position Line Reports to: Maintenance Superintendent

Position Line Reporting to Him: DCS/IT, Electrical, and Instrument Technicians (including contractors under direct supervision)


Key Objectives:

The E&I Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and executing the maintenance, operation, and repair of electrical, instrumentation, communications systems, and associated equipment onboard the FPSO facility. The role ensures all activities are conducted in compliance with legislation, industry standards, and the companys Compliance Assurance Management System (CAMS), with a strong emphasis on safety, environmental protection, and operational efficiency.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Maintenance and Operations:

  • Supervise and carry out the maintenance, repair, and shutdown activities of electrical, instrumentation, and communication systems onboard FPSO facilities.
  • Ensure compliance with industry best practices and operational procedures while maintaining equipment functionality and minimizing downtime.
  • Manage isolation, planned maintenance, and emergency repair activities for electrical and instrumentation systems.

2. Safety and Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with HSSEQ policies, Process Safety guidelines, and MAPP policies.
  • Act as the Area Authority for technical/maintenance work requiring a permit, ensuring all safety measures are implemented and followed.
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of logs, reports, and maintenance records in alignment with CAMS.

3. Equipment and System Management:

  • Oversee the operation and maintenance of all electrical, instrumentation, and control systems on FPSO, including hazardous area equipment.
  • Supervise the safe operation of critical systems such as boilers, COPT, IG systems, and oily water separators.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, operational, and emergency procedures during routine and emergency operations.

4. Supervising Technicians and Contractors:

  • Manage and guide electrical, instrumentation, DCS/IT technicians, and contractors to ensure safety and efficiency in their work.
  • Monitor contractor activities and ensure they comply with the Integrated Facility Management System (IFMS).

5. Documentation and Records Management:

  • Maintain accurate records in compliance with the Integrated Facility Management System.
  • Ensure that technical manuals, drawings, and equipment records are kept up-to-date.
  • Ensure that all maintenance and operational activities are documented and tracked in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

6. Planning and Coordination:

  • Plan and schedule preventive and corrective maintenance activities in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Liaise with the Materials Coordinator for the procurement of spare parts and equipment, ensuring that sufficient inventory is maintained.
  • Oversee the maintenance of key equipment, ensuring timely replacements and repairs.

7. Emergency and Hazardous Operations Management:

  • Ensure safe hot work activities and confined space entries, implementing all necessary risk assessments and safety precautions.
  • Oversee the isolation of electrical and instrumentation systems, ensuring all isolations are conducted per isolation certificates.
  • Supervise emission measurement equipment testing, calibration, and record-keeping.

8. Vendor and OEM Coordination:

  • Maintain communication with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and vendors for troubleshooting, safety concerns, and technical support.
  • Ensure that the equipment from vendors and third parties complies with certificates of fitness and maintenance records.

9. Training and Development:

  • Ensure all maintenance personnel are adequately trained in the safe operation and maintenance of FPSO equipment.
  • Promote a culture of safety and ensure all team members are familiar with and understand safety, operational, and emergency procedures.

Desirable Requirements:

Educational/Professional Qualifications:

  • 12 years of education, Degree/HND/Diploma in Electrical, Instrumentation, and Control Engineering.

Knowledge, Experience & Skills:

  • Minimum 20 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, with at least 5 years in an FPSO environment.
  • Strong experience in the operation and maintenance of electrical, electronic, and instrumentation systems, especially in the hydrocarbons processing industry.
  • Hands-on experience in the maintenance of electrical generation plants and hazardous area electrical equipment.
  • Familiarity with Safety Management Systems (SMS) and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Strong personal and interpersonal skills to manage and lead teams effectively.

Certifications/Licenses:

  • Electrical/Electronics/Instrumentation Certification.
  • HV/LV and CompEx Equipment Certification.
  • BOSIET/BOSIET-T Certification (or equivalent).

  • Safety Management: Strong focus on safety, ensuring all activities are conducted in compliance with HSSEQ policies and safety guidelines.
  • Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of electrical, instrumentation, and control systems, particularly in the FPSO environment.
  • Leadership: Effective leadership skills to manage and guide both technical teams and contractors in maintaining high operational standards.
  • Operational Efficiency: Ability to ensure smooth and efficient operation of equipment while minimizing downtime and maintenance costs.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills to troubleshoot complex electrical and instrumentation systems and resolve operational challenges.

Budget:

  • Competitive annual salary in the range of 40-50 LPA (Lakhs per annum), commensurate with experience and qualifications.
