Sous Chef

Role & responsibilities:

Sous chef's responsibilities include but not limited to this:

• Managing staff: Delegating tasks to the kitchen team, creating work schedules, and onboarding new staff- (Training)
• Ensuring quality: Overseeing each station and ensuring dishes meet the head chef's standards
• Preparing food: Cooking dishes themselves, or stepping in when another staff member is absent
• Developing menus: Assisting the head chef with creating, testing, and refining recipes
• Maintaining safety: Ensuring the kitchen meets health department regulations and follows food safety guidelines
• Using equipment: Knowing how to use kitchen equipment, and in some cases doing minor repairs
