Job Description
- Assisting the GSL team in performing spatial analysis for various research and practice projects;
- Developing methods and automated workflows for spatial analysis and remote sensing data processing;
- Supporting cartographic map production (both static and dynamic); automating data visualization and map production;
- Identifying sources, collecting and procuring both spatial and non-spatial data sets from various agencies and online platforms;
- Participating in field data collection as needed;
- Supporting teaching and training activities of the Lab, including assisting with the development of course modules, creating data sets for practical sessions and assisting in hands-on training sessions;
- Supporting activities related to the development of spatial data infrastructure, including data organization, documentation and archival;
- Providing support to other IIHS activities including academics, research, training, practice, operations and others;
- Participating in all activities of Institution-Building at IIHS; carrying out tasks as assigned by IIHS; and travelling on IIHS work within or outside the country as and when needed.
- A Bachelor s or Master s degree in Geoinformatics/ Remote Sensing or related discipline with one year of relevant experience;
- A degree in urban planning/ natural sciences or a related discipline, with a minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience;
- Proficiency in spatial analysis using QGIS, Google Earth Engine and Python is essential;
- Experience in Spatial analysis using R, or Spatial database development using PostgreSQL or MySQL, will be added advantages;
- Ability to involve in multiple projects simultaneously;
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, written and oral communication skills;
- Willingness to support project management and the day-to-day operations of the lab.
