Job Description

This position will be under a project for the restoration and conservation of freshwater habitats in urban/peri-urban Bengaluru, and will involve several aspects including field monitoring, laboratory analysis, GIS-RS analyses, designing and conducting field experiments and capacity-building workshops for stakeholders. The incumbent will be part of the project team working with peri-urban lakes and constructed wetlands in Bengaluru.

This will be a contractual position for an initial term of 11 months, renewable on mutual consent.

Activities and Tasks

Responsibilities would include, but not be limited to, the following:

Handling project management and related activities;
Coordinating with different teams who are involved in the project to ensure timely completion of tasks;
Compiling and managing data generated from project activities;
Assisting in data analysis and interpretation;
Compiling reports in the required formats;
Assisting in conducting workshops for stakeholders;
Liaising with external agencies (government/non-government) as and when required;
Providing support to other IIHS activities including academics, research, training, practice, operations and others;
Participating in all activities of Institution-Building at IIHS; carrying out tasks as assigned by IIHS; and traveling on IIHS work within or outside the country as and when needed.

Structure and Reporting

The project manager will be an External Consultant coordinating with the Dean School of Environment and Sustainability at IIHS and will be required to collaborate effectively with a diverse group of internal teams and external individuals/organizations, and students.

Person Specification

E/ B.Tech in Environmental Engineering;
A Master s degree in Environmental Sciences/ Life Sciences/ Agroforestry/ Agriculture would be an added advantage;
At least 2 years of experience in managing independent projects/ grants including site implementation, technical and financial reporting;
Experience in conducting capacity-building workshops;
Proficiency in MS office;
Strong organizational, communication and planning skills; effective team working and team management skills;
Knowledge of written/ spoken Kannada would be highly desirable;
Experience in conducting rapid social surveys would be an added advantage.

This is a contractual engagement for an initial term of 11 months, renewable on mutual consent.
