Assistant Manager Legal

Purpose

• Legal risk mitigation and minimization of financial / legal implications in regular / long term operation of the power business.
• Maximization of revenue through utilizing adequate legal provisions.

Role & responsibilities

• Dealing in matters related to Contract Law, MSME, Commercial Litigation, criminal proceedings, DRAT, DRT & PMLA.
• Attending cases / proceedings pending before the State Regulatory Commission, Ld. Electricity Ombudsman, Consumer Forum, Grievance Redressal Officer / PGRO, Central Grievance Redressal Forum.
• Attending proceedings, Complaints, Applications, Writ Petitions, Appeals and Suits pending before different High Courts, Civil Courts, Special Court of Electricity, NCLT, APTEL, Lok Adalat, Arbitral Forum, IBC proceedings etc.
• Initiating, drafting, vetting legal communications and scrutiny of various Letters, Legal Notices, Applications, Petitions, Contracts, Agreements, Deeds, LOIs, LOAs, Bank Guarantees & Documents.
• Maintain case-wise summary sheet and update the status for all litigation / arbitration cases.
• Working closely with external law firms, Barristers, Sr. Counsels and Advocates for briefing of new cases and consultation of existing cases.
• Scrutiny / Assessment of bills / professional charges / reimbursement of expenses raised in connection with litigations filed by / against the company and other legal services.
• Maintain record of all litigation / arbitration related matters along with notices and replies.
• Participate in Corporate Seminars and conferences to represent the organization and remain updated with latest development in the power sector.

Some key attributes desired of this role

• Knowledge and understanding of Electricity Act, Renewable Energy (preferably)
• Hands on experience in litigation and arbitration matters
• Drafting and vet all applications with limited turn around time
• Should be able to deal with external law firms, Advocates and Sr. Counsels.
• Excellent communication & negotiation skills
• Ability to maintain proper records and digitization of the case files
• Open to extensive travel and demanding working hours
• Should be a good team player and a go getter
• Should be updated with the latest important judgements
