Cobol Developer

Job Summary:

We are looking for an experienced COBOL Developer with expertise in COBOL and SQL or Micro Focus COBOL. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and optimizing COBOL applications while integrating with SQL databases. This role requires strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain applications using COBOL, SQL, or Micro Focus COBOL.
• Perform SQL database operations including queries, stored procedures, and performance optimization.
• Integrate COBOL applications with relational databases like Oracle, SQL Server, DB2, or PostgreSQL.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to COBOL programs and database connectivity.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business processes and system enhancements.
• Ensure high-quality coding standards and documentation practices.
• Participate in code reviews, testing, and deployment processes.
• Work on migration projects from mainframe COBOL to Micro Focus COBOL if required.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• 4 to 7 years of experience in COBOL and SQL OR Micro Focus COBOL.
• Hands-on experience in writing and optimizing SQL queries within COBOL programs.
• Strong understanding of COBOL programming concepts including file handling, batch processing, and data structures.
• Experience with embedded SQL in COBOL.
• Knowledge of database management systems like Oracle, DB2, SQL Server, or PostgreSQL.
• Familiarity with Micro Focus COBOL tools and modernization frameworks is a plus.
• Ability to debug and troubleshoot application and database-related issues.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
