Senior R&D Engineer - High Voltage DCValve Electrical - IDC

You will be part of Technology and Solutions Development for HVDC applications, within Hitachi Energy. The HVDC technology has been on the market for the past 60 years and is used, among other things, to transmit power over long distances with minimal losses, using overhead lines, underground and submarine cable systems.

Your Responsibilities:

• Performing calculations and simulations to determine stress on different electrical components used in the product being developed.

• Writing Requirement Specification for components to be used.

• Collaborate with suppliers to find suitable components that fulfill the Requirements

• Cross-department collaboration with e.g. Mechanical designers, to fit the suggested component in the product being developed.

• Writing Test Specifications for tests needed to verify the proposed design.

• Together with Test department, or third party test facility, perform the tests as specified, experience with working with laboratory equipment and testing is a therefore needed.

• Analyze test results, write Test Reports.

Your Background:

• A Master of Technology/Science in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics or equivalent.

• 5-8 years or more of work experience from similar (power electronics) industries.

• Experience of power electronics in high voltage products is valuable.

• Knowledge of VSC system design and application is expected.

• Knowledge of electrical field and electrical creepage is valuable.

• You are curious and interested in sustainability and the ongoing energy transition, and want to work on key technologies to solve one of the biggest challenges for humanity today

• Proficiency in both spoken written English language is required .
