Mainframe System Programmer

Mandatory Skills:

• Good working knowledge of programming languages such as HLASM, PL/X, PL/1, C/C++ and REXX.
• Good knowledge of z/OS or MVS components and internals.
• Experience with systems programming and system configuration.
• Experience with using IPCS and software problem diagnosis and problem resolution.
• In-depth knowledge of storage management (VSM, RSM, ASM) and the implications of 24-bit, 31-bit and 64-bit addressing.
• In-depth knowledge of security components such as RACF and/or ACF2 including certificate management and use.
• In-depth knowledge of job management aspects such as job classes, initiators, address space types and their life cycles, task structure, job accounting and chargeback.
• Understanding of Catalogs, VTOCs and system-managed storage.
• Ability to perform ad hoc data administration tasks.
• Good familiarity with ISPF and SCLM.
• Good familiarity with relational data bases and SQL
• Understanding of Software Asset management.
• Ability to explain problem resolution procedures to non- technical customers.
• Ability to advocate on behalf of customers.
• Fluent English speaker/writer
• The candidate must have the aptitude and willingness to embrace unfamiliar technology and learn new skills
• You are thoroughly familiar with the mainframe, its various sub-systems, features etc (TSO, ISPF, CICS, Batch, DB2, IMS, VSAM, PDSE/2, exits, SCLM, LMS, DUMPS, Abend analysis, zVM etc) • You have mainframe software development experience using: C, JCL, HLASM, REXX
• You understand how to develop, automate test code using batch and interactive test cases (eg JCL, REXX, CLIST & ISPF, but we also have some custom tools)
• You are prepared to give a demonstration of your skills at an interactive technical interview
