Electrical Diagrams and Schematic Preparation
1. Single Line Diagrams (SLDs):
Prepare overall single line diagrams and basic protection schemes for EHV/MV/LV systems.
Develop detailed schematic diagrams, schedules, I/O lists, and logic diagrams for system control and protection.
2. Primary Skill Set:
Understanding protection single line diagrams (SLDs).
Proficiency in layout preparation using AutoCAD.
Technical validation of major equipment such as power transformers, circuit breakers (CB), CT/PT, isolators (ISO), lightning arresters (LA), high tension (HT) and low tension (LT) switchboards, ACDB & DCDB, batteries, and battery chargers.
3. Substation Engineering:
Perform conductor sizing and sag-tension analysis.
Develop protection philosophies and calculate short circuit forces for voltage levels up to 220kV AIS/GIS.
Design and analyze substation components including conductors and insulators.
4. System Studies Calculations:
Conduct load flow, short circuit, and motor starting studies using ETAP software and manual calculations.
5. Detailed Engineering Skills
Preparation of cable schedules.
Design and drawing of illumination systems.
Design and drawing of earth mat systems.
Design and drawing of lightning protection systems, including bills of quantities (BOQ).
6. Review of Layouts and Engineering Drawings:
Review substation general arrangement drawings, erection key diagrams, earth mat details, raceways, lighting, grounding, and equipment layouts.
7. Cable and Distribution Board Schedules:
Prepare detailed cable schedules and distribution board schedules.
Develop inter-panel wiring diagrams.
8. Sizing Calculations:
Calculate sizing for electrical equipment such as current transformers (CT), potential transformers (PT), transformers, DC systems, UPS systems, auxiliary systems, switchgears, and motor control centers (MCCs).
9. Electrical Component Calculations:
Perform calculations for cables, cable tray/conduit sizing, cable tray loading, earthing systems, and lighting design.
10. Preparation of Tender Specifications:
Develop detailed tender specifications outlining project requirements.
Create data sheets and material requisites (MRs) for all necessary equipment and materials.
Prepare design basis reports (DBR) and comprehensive technical specifications for electrical systems and components.
11. Technical Bid Evaluation (TBE):
Conduct evaluations of technical bids to ensure vendor compliance with specified requirements.
Compare bids against tender documents and technical criteria.
Recommend the best technical options based on thorough bid assessments.
12. Secondary Engineering Skills
Technical vetting of control and relay panels.
Development of control and relay panel (CRP) schemes.
Knowledge of SCADA, RTU, SAS, PLCC, and FOTE systems.
