SCADA System Engineer

Reports to: Senior Systems Engineer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Renewable Energy SCADA System Engineer to join our dynamic team. This critical role involves overseeing and managing the automation and SCADA systems used for monitoring, reporting, and analyzing data from wind and solar power plants. The ideal candidate will have robust technical skills in SCADA, PLCs, SQL, and communication networking, along with practical experience in managing both wind and solar energy systems. This role requires on-site travel for project activities and system troubleshooting, ensuring high reliability and performance of renewable energy assets.

Key Responsibilities:

System Monitoring and Management:

• Oversee the daily operations of SCADA systems for wind and solar power plants, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
• Monitor system performance metrics and troubleshoot issues related to device communication within the SCADA network.
• Perform routine checks and maintenance on SCADA applications and server systems to prevent unexpected failures.

Data Analysis and Reporting:

• Collect, analyze, and interpret system data to assess the performance of wind and solar plants.
• Prepare detailed reports on system status, performance anomalies, and maintenance activities.
• Utilize SQL and other data manipulation tools to enhance data retrieval and reporting processes.

Communication and Networking:

• Manage and troubleshoot network configurations and communications using Modbus, Serial, TCP/IP, and OPC DA/UA protocols.
• Ensure secure and reliable data transfer between onsite systems and remote monitoring facilities.

Site Management and Project Implementation:

• Travel to plant sites to perform installation, maintenance, and error rectification of solar asset monitoring systems.
• Coordinate with onsite technicians and project managers to ensure timely completion of projects and resolve any emerging issues.
• Provide technical support and training to site staff on SCADA system operations and best practices.
• Participate in cross-functional teams to support wider organizational goals related to renewable energy projects.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in managing SCADA systems, specifically in renewable energy settings (wind and solar).
• Proficient in PLC programming and troubleshooting.
• Deep understanding of communication and networking protocols, including Modbus, Serial, TCP/IP, and OPC DA/UA.
• Ability to travel extensively to various project sites.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with renewable energy management software and hardware.
• Prior experience in a field service engineering role.
