Job Description

The Controllers group is responsible for safeguarding the firms assets: to help maintain the integrity of Goldman Sachs finances and expenditures. Through careful consideration and analyses of firm finances, objectives and strategies, we ensure that the firms businesses continue to be profitable and efficiently run. Controllers also ensure that all business practices are in compliance with financial and regulatory requirements worldwide. Since contact with virtually every part of the firm is essential to Controllers, professionals in the department experience Goldman Sachs businesses, products, and sophisticated technology systems in depth. Direct Hedge Funds, Hedge Funds Strategies, Private Equity Group teams within Controllers support the alternative investments within Goldman Sachs Asset Management division with oversight over complex private funds.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Oversee U.S. GAAP and local GAAP (e.g. IFRS) accounting and reporting for entities that primarily own real estate investment, with oversight and leadership over the monthly closing process, general ledger details, and production of reports for internal and external users
Oversee audit process and report preparation on entities with this requirement
Liaise extensively with other areas of firm such as Asset Management Division, Operations, Treasury, Tax providers, Fund Accounting, Product Controllers, Engineering, etc.
Provide oversight and leadership for accurate and fair presentation of stand-alone and consolidated entity financial information and disclosures in accordance with U.S. GAAP and local GAAP (e.g. IFRS)
Ensuring timely and accurate submission to external stakeholders/regulators
Assist in the development of junior team members through coaching and mentoring
Perform and review ad hoc analyses upon requirement.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Strong analytical / interpersonal skills
Proficiency in accounting processes, accounting controls and accounting systems
CA qualification is required.
At least 7 to 11 years relevant work experience post qualification
People management experience preferred
Teamwork and collaboration-oriented, with the ability to work independently
Must demonstrate considerable energy, focus, drive, and a sense of urgency
Ability to manage multiple tasks, operate within deadlines, and escalate when appropriate
Project management skills
Ability to execute independently along with oversight responsibilities

I like that it hires the best lot and you know you are around brainy ppl.I like the infrastructure of premises.

Politics at senior level.its more of a govt bank wherever 90% ppl are born and bred here and they would have more influence 9ver stakeholders than a lateral hire would ever have.they can make or break your image and no one would bother to hear your side of story Also they make you work 10 hours everyday and ask you to enter the same hours on timesheet so bargain better
