VMC Programmer and Setter

Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled VMC (Vertical Machining Center) Programmer and Setter to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in CNC machining, particularly in programming and setting up VMCs. They will be responsible for translating engineering drawings into machine programs, setting up tooling and fixtures, and ensuring the efficient operation of the VMC to meet production requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Program VMCs using CAM software based on engineering drawings and specifications.
• Set up VMC machines including loading materials, fixtures, and tooling.
• Conduct tool changes, offsets, and adjustments as necessary to ensure quality and accuracy.
• Monitor machine operations to detect malfunctions or deviations from specifications.
• Troubleshoot issues with programs, tooling, or machine performance to minimize downtime.
• Perform regular maintenance tasks on VMC machines to ensure optimal performance.
• Collaborate with engineering and production teams to optimize machining processes and improve efficiency.
• Maintain accurate documentation of machining processes, programs, and tooling setups.
• Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
• Train and mentor junior machinists as needed.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in machining or related field preferred.
• Proven experience as a VMC programmer and setter in a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Fusion 360) for programming VMC machines.
• Strong understanding of CNC machining principles, tooling, and fixtures.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, GD&T symbols, and specifications.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
• Willingness to work flexible hours and overtime as needed.
