The Research Chemist will work closely with senior chemists and other team members to achieve project goals, contribute to the development of new chemical processes, and ensure that all laboratory activities adhere to established safety protocols. You will be expected to assist in preparing reports and presentations summarizing research findings for internal and external stakeholders. Responsibilities

1. Develop and optimize chemical processes for the synthesis of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and intermediates.
2. Conduct pre-formulation studies to determine the physical and chemical properties of APIs.
3. Design and execute experiments to scale up chemical reactions from lab-scale to pilot-scale and commercial-scale.
4. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including formulation scientists, quality control, and regulatory affairs to ensure product quality and compliance.
5. Prepare technical documentation such as protocols, reports, and regulatory submissions.
6. Participate in technology transfer activities to ensure smooth transition from R&D to commercial production.
7. Identify and mitigate potential risks in the chemical processes to ensure safety and environmental compliance.
8. Stay updated with industry regulations and ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
9. Contribute to patent applications and intellectual property management related to new chemical processes and products.
10. Provide technical support and troubleshooting for manufacturing issues.
11. Engage in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance process efficiency and reduce costs.

Safety and Procedural Responsibilities:

1. Adhere to safety protocols and ensure all laboratory activities comply with safety regulations and guidelines.
2. Conduct risk assessments for all chemical processes and experimental setups to identify potential hazards.
3. Implement safety measures to protect personnel and equipment from chemical hazards, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
4. Monitor and enforce laboratory safety standards, including the proper handling, storage, and disposal of chemicals and waste.
5. Conduct regular safety audits to ensure compliance with safety procedures and identify areas for improvement.
6. Train and educate team members on safety practices and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
7. Report and investigate incidents and near-misses to prevent future occurrences and improve safety protocols.
8. Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, and corrective actions taken to ensure transparency and accountability.
