Roles & Responsibilities for Senior Engineer - R&D (APQP Department)

Job Title: Senior Engineer - R&D (APQP Department)
Department: Research & Development (R&D)
Location: Dhodsar, Jaipur

Key Responsibilities:

1. Project Management and Documentation:
   
• Oversee and ensure timely handover of projects across the APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) process.
• Maintain and organize project documentation, ensuring it is updated throughout the project lifecycle.
• Manage customer-specific project requirements, converting them into Mayurs internal formats while adhering to customer templates.
• Track project timelines and milestones, ensuring on-time project delivery and monitoring all project phases from concept to SOP (Start of Production).
• Ensure that all required documentation, including PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) and APQP documents, are accurately prepared and submitted within deadlines.

2. Customer Liaison & Satisfaction:

• Serve as the main point of contact between R&D, customers, and internal departments (Production, Quality, Marketing).
• Monitor and ensure that customer requirements and expectations are met regarding project milestones, documentation, and performance.
• Coordinate with the marketing and quality teams to ensure customer feedback is integrated into product development and APQP processes.
• Ensure that the necessary documentation for customer legal and regulatory requirements is submitted and communicated in a timely manner.

3. KPI and Performance Metrics:

• Regularly track and report the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the R&D department, including project progress, document submissions, and customer satisfaction.
• Consolidate and present monthly KPI data, highlighting key trends, challenges, and performance improvements.
• Measure and report performance parameters such as the number of project handovers, the timeliness of KPI submissions, and customer feedback on documentation quality.

4. Internal Coordination & Cross-Functional Collaboration:

• Work closely with R&D, Production, and Quality teams to ensure alignment on project goals, customer requirements, and technical specifications.
• Participate in team meetings to share updates, insights, and collaborate on solutions for any project-related challenges.
• Coordinate with various departments, ensuring smooth integration of legal, sustainability, and quality requirements into project processes.
• Interface with the OEM and Market teams to gather inputs for new projects and customer feedback.

5. Compliance and Legal Coordination:

• Stay updated on customer legal requirements and ensure these are communicated effectively to the relevant departments, including R&D, Production, Quality, and Sustainability.
• Ensure all project deliverables meet the required legal and regulatory standards as per customer and industry specifications.

6. Documentation and Process Adherence:

• Ensure adherence to internal procedures like APQP, PPAP, and MOP-RD 04 for proper documentation and project management.
• Regularly update and maintain a digital archive of project documents, ensuring that all records are properly stored and easily retrievable.
• Implement continuous improvement practices to streamline the APQP process and enhance project efficiency.

7. Reporting:

• Prepare and deliver regular reports on project progress, customer satisfaction, documentation status, and departmental KPIs.
• Provide senior management with insights and recommendations for process improvements and project success.

Performance Criteria:

• Timely handover of all projects.
• Timely customer responses for project-related documentation.
• High level of customer satisfaction with project documentation quality and submission.
• Effective monitoring of project timelines and KPIs.

Skills and Qualifications:

1. Technical Skills:

• Proficient in MS Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for documentation, reporting, and presentations.
• Strong understanding of APQP, PPAP, and quality management systems.
• Knowledge of customer-specific documentation requirements and project management tools.
