Deputy General Manager / General Manager - Purchase

Role & responsibilities

• Ensure all the raw materials, consumables and other supplies are made available timely for Manufacturing operations.
• Ensure timely procurement of spares and other parts for the smooth functioning of the plants.
• Analyze market condition, price volatility and delivery systems to assess present and future material availability and create procurement plans
• Collaborating with internal stakeholders to understand their requirements and align procurement activities with organizational goals
• Develop alternate suppliers based on suitable evaluation for procurement of materials in collaboration with respective stakeholders.
• Review performance of suppliers and Initiate corrective action plan for suppliers and monitor progress.
• Conducting market research and analysis to stay updated on industry trends, supplier capabilities and pricing fluctuations.
• Managing supplier relationships, including ongoing performance evaluation, issue resolution and fostering long-term partnerships.
• Negotiating contracts and terms with suppliers to ensure favorable pricing, payment terms and mutually beneficial agreements.
• Monitoring inventory levels, analyzing demand patterns and implementing inventory management strategies to manage stock levels and avoid shortages or excesses.
• Plan and monitor implementation of alternate sourcing for critical components

Preferred candidate profile

• Proven track record in managing large-scale manufacturing setup involving multiple stakeholders
• Strong knowledge of inventory management principles, including forecasting, ordering, receiving, storing, issuing materials.
• Candidates with MBA qualification shall be preferred.
• Minimum 15--20 years experience out of which 10 years should be in team management role.
