Job Description

Job Description Summary We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Sr. Mechanical Designer to join our Global Engineering Center. The ideal candidate will have good years of experience in designing power transformers, with expertise in internal connections design, internal layouts, tank and external designs, and customer drawings. A deep understanding of internal standards such as ISO, IEC, IEEE, and proficiency in 3D CAD tools like Inventor and Creo are essential for this role. Experience with design failure analysis tools (DFMEA), root cause analysis (RCA), and FEA tools like ANSYS will be highly beneficial. Additionally, the role requires occasional travel and fluency in English, with knowledge of German or Turkish considered an advantage.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop internal connections, internal layouts, tank structures, and external components for power transformers, ensuring compliance with customer requirements and engineering standards.

  • Create and maintain accurate and detailed customer drawings, meeting internal and external standards (ISO, IEC, IEEE, etc.).

  • Review and interpret customer specifications to develop robust design solutions that meet performance and safety standards.

  • Lead design reviews and collaborate with cross-functional teams to address design issues, risks, and opportunities for improvement.

  • Apply DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) to identify potential failure modes and improve design robustness.

  • Conduct failure analysis using RCA (Root Cause Analysis) to resolve design-related issues effectively.

  • Utilize advanced 3D CAD tools (Inventor, Creo) to design, optimize, and iterate transformer components and systems.

  • Perform FEA (Finite Element Analysis) using tools like ANSYS to ensure the structural and thermal integrity of transformer designs.

  • Support manufacturing teams by providing design guidance, reviewing shop drawings, and assisting in the resolution of production challenges.

  • Ensure designs comply with all relevant industry standards and best practices, including but not limited to ISO, IEC, IEEE.

  • Coordinate and support customer-facing activities, including design presentations, clarification of technical details, and addressing design-related queries.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bacheloror masterdegree in mechanical engineering or a related field.

  • At least 10+ years of experience in transformer design, with strong expertise in internal connections, internal layouts, tank designs, and customer drawings.

  • Extensive knowledge of internal standards (ISO, IEC, IEEE, etc.) and industry best practices in transformer design.

  • Proficiency in 3D CAD tools, particularly Autodesk Inventor and PTC Creo.

  • Strong experience with design failure analysis tools such as DFMEA, and failure investigation using RCA (Root Cause Analysis).

  • Familiarity with FEA tools, particularly ANSYS, for performing structural and thermal simulations.

  • Ability to develop and optimize designs in accordance with customer requirements and applicable regulations.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams and interact with Internal and External customers.

  • Willingness to travel as required for on-site design validation.

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of additional languages (German and/or Turkish) is a plus.

  • Experience with transformer manufacturing processes, including knowledge of quality control and testing.

  • Understanding of transformer operational performance, including electrical and thermal aspects.

  • Experience with international projects and the ability to work in multi-disciplinary, cross-cultural teams.

  • Familiarity with international & national EHS norms.

  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.

  • Proficiency with Lean concept i.e. Kaizans, 5S, problem solving tools etc.

Personal Attributes:

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to guide and mentor junior designers.

  • High attention to detail and precision.

  • Proactive, self-motivated, and able to work independently or within a team.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

  • Enthusiastic about continuous improvement and professional development.

Language Requirements:
Fluency in English is required. Additional language skills in German and/or Turkish are an advantage.

Why Join Us:
As a Sr. Mechanical Designer in our Global Engineering Center, you will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge transformer designs, collaborate with industry experts, and contribute to innovative engineering solutions.
