Position Summary
The Lead Database Administrator will oversee a team of over 20 database administrators, focused on Oracle, Goldengate, Aurora, SQL Server, and Snowflake databases. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, performance and scalability of our database systems, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and providing strategic direction for database management and integration.
Experience and Required Skills
-10+ years of experience as a database developer or database engineer.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical capabilities.
- Expertise in Oracle on Exadata.
- Experience working with AWS, Azure, GCP, or Oracle Cloud.
- Experience with Aurora, Snowflake, or other cloud-native database.
- Experience with Microsoft SQL Server.
- Experience with non-relational and/or columnar databases is a plus.
- Proven record of accomplishment of SQL skills, infrastructure automation and database tuning on VLDBs.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Bachelor is Degree in Computer Science/Engineering, Management Information Systems, or equivalent.
Position Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of 20+ database administrators. Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the team.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and provide professional development opportunities.
- Oversee the administration of our entire database fleet and be the go-to escalation point of contact for any technical production issues.
- Ensure high availability, reliability, and optimal performance of all database systems.
- Implement and enforce database policies, procedures, and standards.
- Develop and execute database strategies aligned with the companys goals and objectives.
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies and tools to improve database efficiency and security. Plan and manage database projects, including migrations, upgrades, and new implementations as required.
- Work closely with other technology teams, stakeholders, and vendors to ensure seamless database operations.
- Communicate effectively with senior management, providing regular updates on database performance and projects.
- Collaborate with development teams to support application requirements and optimize database interactions.
Education
- Bachelors degree or masters in Computer Science, Engineering, Software Engineering or a relevant field.
