Position Overview:
The Sustainability Manager is responsible for providing strategic leadership and oversight in the areas of carbon foot printing, carbon reduction, energy management, and broader ESG initiatives within the organization. The role focuses on delivering sustainable business practices aligned with Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) objectives, ensuring the organization meets its sustainability goals across processes, services, buildings, and transport.
The Sustainability Manager will lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of sustainability policies and programs, specifically addressing carbon neutrality, energy efficiency, and carbon emissions across Scope 1, 2, and 3. This role also involves engaging with both internal teams and external stakeholders to drive change, improve performance, and support sustainability reporting.
Job Description for Sustainability Manager
1. To provide strategic leadership, innovation and delivery on carbon foot printing, carbon reduction and energy management across the organizations processes, services, buildings and transport.
2. To develop the policy, Objective and manage the new Carbon Reduction activities as per GRI standards
3. To Prepare and lead on and have responsibility for the effective delivery of the Carbon Neutral Plan and associated programs and projects,
4. Lead and manage the team focused on achieving the organizations Carbon Neutral objective.
5. To effectively operate, manage and influence the efficient use of energy resources by the organization
6. The role involves the identification, development and facilitation of programs and projects, to design and deliver interventions internally and in some cases with external partners.
7. Hold budgetary responsibility for carbon projects and programs.
8. To report periodically on the organizations progress on carbon reduction.
9. To Develop methodologies to, and deliver monitoring and reporting on carbon emissions from process, energy, water and transport associated with organizations services and buildings, both within the organization and with external stakeholders
10. Manage, coordinate, advise and train the team in relation to the carbon foot printing and carbon reduction
11. Arrange learning and training events for the team in coordination with HR department and encourage their active participation in the drive and reduce the consumption of energy, water and fuel towards the targets.
12. Continuously identify areas for improvement and opportunities to help deliver carbon reduction.
13. Liaise with clients and other interested parties regarding the design and feasibility of new projects, programming of work and project progress providing updates and feedback as required.
14. Collaborate with other leaders to implement process technologies that reduce the organizations carbon foot print
15. Promotes and explains the organizations sustainability philosophy to internal and external audiences.
16. Carbon emission tracking
Scope 1 Direct emissions from owned or controlled sources.
Scope 2 Indirect emissions from the generation of purchased electricity, steam, heating and cooling consumed by the reporting company.
Scope 3 All other indirect emissions that occur in a company's value chain.
17. Undertake such other duties as may reasonably be allocated, which may involve providing assistance in any section of the department as may be required from time to time.
