TCOS (Train Control Office Suite) team has dedicated group of professionals committed to delivering high-quality results. How will you make a difference?
As a manager of the TCOS team from Signaling & Systems P&L in Digital Intelligence group, you will be responsible for:
Team Management :
  • Recruit, hire, and onboard talented software engineers.
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and performance feedback to team members.
  • Foster a collaborative and productive work environment.
  • Manage team workload and ensure efficient task allocation.
Project Management :
  • Define project scope, objectives, and timelines.
  • Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, and milestones.
  • Monitor project progress and address any roadblocks or issues.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project delivery.
Technical Leadership :
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies, trends, and best practices in software engineering.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to the team.
  • Assist in the design and architecture of software systems.
  • Review and provide feedback on code, designs, and technical decisions.
Process Improvement :
  • Evaluate and optimize software development processes and workflows.
  • Implement and maintain effective software engineering practices (e.g., agile methodologies, continuous integration, and deployment).
  • Identify and address areas for process improvement to enhance team productivity and software quality.
Stakeholder Management :
  • Communicate project status, risks, and issues to key stakeholders (e.g., product owners, executives).
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to align software development efforts with business objectives.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations and address their concerns effectively.
Resource Management :
  • Forecast and plan for team resource needs, including headcount, skills, and budget.
  • Manage the teams budget and ensure efficient utilization of resources.
  • Advocate for the teams resource requirements and secure necessary approvals.
Professional Development :
  • Identify and support the professional growth and skill development of team members.
  • Provide opportunities for team members to learn, grow, and take on new challenges.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the team.
What do we want to know about you?
You must have:
  • Demonstrate very strong technical leadership and people management skills including solid communication and analytical skills with thorough understanding of product development and successful problem definition, decomposition, estimation, and resolution.
  • Responsible for building a world class software development team to support the system integration of the platform.
  • Deliver application and services to validate and ensure the platform meets all operational standards.
  • Influence decision making through active partnership with cross-functional teams.
  • Manage strategic business partnerships and relationships through Technical, Financial, Contractual and Relationship Management.
  • Coach, mentor and lead a diverse group of lean/agile software engineers.
  • Work with product owners across the project to understand market needs & vision; quickly translate that vision into demonstrable software.
  • Work with product owners and architects to develop software development plans.
  • Work directly with customers to understand business and technical needs.
  • Drive increased efficiency across the teams, eliminating duplication, leveraging product and technology reuse.
  • Support process improvements which guide the development, sustaining & support activities
  • Work cross functionally with other business departments to align activities and deliverables.
  • Drive world-class quality in the development and support of products.
  • Keep project data relating to tracking and financials current.
  • Deliver resource strategy and plans, including use of 3rd parties/partners, etc., in support of development and support activities.
  • Plan and manage budgets related to scope of team.
  • Communicate effectively both within immediate team and Wabtec leadership. Ensure team receives consistent messages and has clear understanding of business direction, strategy and results.
  • Build a world class software development team to consistently deliver complex software platforms and research projects of varying size and duration.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelors/master s degree in computer science engineering or equivalent with expertise in programming languages like C#, VB.NET framework, Winforms/WPF, SQL
  • Has prior experience of building desktop applications.
  • 14+ years of overall software engineering design and development experience.
  • 3+ years of experience leading large projects and teams.
  • Experience in software management through at least 2+ complete product life cycles.
  • Experience in delivering high quality software outputs with comprehensive understanding of Agile software development principles.
  • Proven experience working with global development teams and building close working relationships to drive and nurture positive relations with others.
  • Strong influencing skills, communication skills and demonstrated analytical skills.
Eligibility Requirements:
  • Must be willing to work out of an office located in Bangalore, India.
We would love it if you had:
Technical Expertise:
  • Thorough knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle principles.
  • Through working knowledge of CI/CD concepts and best practices.
  • Hands on experience using Experience in Windows technology and WPF framework Prior technical experience in C# and VB.NET is desirable.
  • Strong demonstrated understanding of customer milestone and delivery lifecycle required. Understanding of driving complex application with knowledge on UI and backend technologies is required. Also, demonstrable experience in working and managing across NPI, sustenance and new product development is needed for this role.

What will your typical day look like?
Team Meetings and 1-on-1s :
  • Conduct daily stand-up meetings to discuss team progress, blockers, and priorities.
  • Schedule 1-on-1 meetings with team members to provide feedback, address concerns, and discuss their professional development.
Project Management :
  • Review and update project plans, schedules, and milestones.
  • Attend cross-functional meetings to coordinate with other teams (e.g., product, design, QA).
  • Identify and address any project risks or issues.
Technical Oversight :
  • Review and provide feedback on code, designs, and architectural decisions.
  • Participate in technical discussions and design reviews.
  • Assist team members in resolving complex technical problems.
