Deputy/Assistant Manager - HSE and Compliance

Job Profile : The Deputy/Assistant Manager : HSE and Compliance is responsible for overseeing and ensuring adherence to Health, Safety, Environmental (HSE) related standards and protocol , C-T PAT , AEO policies, and regulatory compliance particularly related to Indian Customs at the Inland Container Depot (ICD). This role includes conducting risk assessments, implementing safety protocols, ensuring environmental compliance, and ensuring adherence to all legal and industry regulations in operations.

Key Responsibilities:

a) Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE), C-T PAT and AEO Compliance:

Develop, implement, and monitor HSE, AEO, C-T PAT policies and procedures.

Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to ensure compliance with HSE standards.

Monitor, review, and improve the companys emergency response plan, safety equipment, and hazard control measures.

Ensure adherence to environmental laws and regulations related to waste management, pollution control, and hazardous materials handling.

Coordinate HSE training programs for employees, ensuring all staff are well-trained in emergency procedures and safety protocols.

Lead investigations into accidents, incidents, and near-misses, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.

b) Legal and Regulatory Compliance:

• Ensure the depot complies with local, state, and national environmental and safety regulations and Indian Customs.
• Maintain up to date knowledge of relevant safety, environmental, and compliance laws, including transportation, labour, and customs regulations.
• Liaise with regulatory authorities during inspections and audits.
• Monitor and maintain all relevant licenses, permits, and documentation required for operations.

c) Risk Management and Mitigation:

• Conduct risk assessments and safety evaluations of the ICD facility, equipment, and daily operations.
• Implement corrective measures to mitigate identified risks and hazards.
• Ensure that the depot’s operational procedures meet the highest standards of safety and compliance.

d) Reporting and Documentation:

• Prepare and submit regular HSE reports, risk assessments, incident reports, and compliance status reports to senior management.
• Ensure accurate and thorough documentation of all safety procedures, incidents, and compliance records.
• Prepare and maintain safety data sheets for all hazardous materials on-site.

e) Emergency Response and Crisis Management:

• Participate in the development and regular testing of emergency response and disaster recovery plans.
• Act as a point of contact in the event of an emergency, ensuring effective communication and response during incidents.

f) Continuous Improvement:

• Stay updated on global best practices, industry standards, and emerging trends in HSE and regulatory compliance.
• Propose and drive initiatives to continuously improve the HSE performance and compliance culture at the ICD.
