Urgent Opening For Litigation - Assistant Manager/Deputy Manager

Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled and proactive Assistant Manager - Litigation to join our Legal team in the Non-Banking Financial Company (NBFC) sector. This is an individual contributor role, where you will manage a wide variety of litigation matters across India. You will be responsible for representing the company in legal proceedings, coordinating with external counsel, and managing cases involving disputes, recoveries, and other litigation-related matters.

This role requires extensive travel across India, as the company operates in multiple regions and handles legal matters across different jurisdictions.

Role & responsibilities

• Litigation Management: Independently handle litigation matters from inception to resolution, including attending hearings, preparing case briefs, and managing all stages of the litigation process.
• Case Representation: Represent the company in various courts, tribunals, and regulatory bodies across India for civil, commercial, and recovery cases.
• Strategy Development: Develop and implement litigation strategies in consultation with the legal team and senior management to protect the company's interests.
• External Counsel Coordination: Engage and coordinate with external law firms and counsel across different jurisdictions, ensuring alignment with company policies and objectives.
• Legal Research & Documentation: Conduct detailed legal research, draft petitions, replies, and other legal documents required for litigation matters. Prepare legal summaries and reports for management.
• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards in all litigation matters.
• Dispute Resolution: Actively engage in negotiations, settlement discussions, and alternative dispute resolution (ADR) processes to minimize litigation costs and time.
• Recovery Matters: Oversee and handle recovery-related matters, including debt recovery suits, legal notices, and enforcement proceedings.
• Travel: Extensive travel to various locations across India for court appearances, case management, meetings with legal teams, and client interactions.

Preferred candidate profile

• Strong understanding of Indian legal systems and procedures.
• Ability to manage multiple litigation cases simultaneously, with excellent organizational skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate complex legal issues clearly.
• Ability to work independently, demonstrate initiative, and take ownership of cases.
• Problem-solving skills and an analytical mindset.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners

Year of Experience

• Minimum 46 years of experience in handling litigation, preferably in the financial services, NBFC, or banking industry.
• Experience in handling cases related to debt recovery, financial disputes, and commercial litigation.
• Prior experience in pan-India litigation matters and familiarity with regional legal frameworks is highly desirable.
