Database Administrator - SQL Server/PostgreSQL (6-10 yrs)

Job Summary :

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Database Administrator to manage and maintain our database systems, ensuring high performance, availability, and security. The ideal candidate will have expertise in database technologies, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to optimize and troubleshoot complex database systems.

Key Responsibilities :

1. Database Management :

- Install, configure, and maintain database systems (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL).

- Ensure databases are accessible, secure, and scalable.

- Performance Monitoring and Optimization

- Monitor database performance and implement optimization techniques.

- Perform capacity planning and forecasting to support business needs.

2. Backup and Recovery :

- Develop and implement backup and recovery strategies to prevent data loss.

- Conduct regular testing of disaster recovery procedures.

3. Security :

- Implement database security measures, including access controls and encryption.

- Monitor for unauthorized access or security breaches.

4. Data Integrity and Maintenance :

- Ensure data integrity through consistent validation and maintenance processes.

- Conduct regular database audits.

5. Troubleshooting and Support :

- Troubleshoot database issues and provide support to application developers and end users.

- Analyze and resolve database performance issues and failures.

6. Documentation :

- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, procedures, and policies.

7. Collaboration:

- Work with developers to design and optimize database schemas.

- Collaborate with IT teams to ensure seamless integration of databases with other systems.

Qualifications :

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

- Proven experience as a Database Administrator or in a similar role.

- Proficiency with database management systems such as Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, or PostgreSQL.

- Strong understanding of database design, optimization, and maintenance.

- Knowledge of database security, backup, and recovery strategies.

- Familiarity with cloud-based database solutions (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL, Google Cloud SQL) is a plus.

- Certification in database technologies (e.g., Oracle DBA, Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator) is an advantage.
