Software Engineer

Role & responsibilities

As an experienced Software Engineer you will be responsible for managing our Competition Management system. This is heavily backend focussed work, optimising performance, maintaining data quality, and resolving architectural bottle necks.

As a member of a wider software team you will be required to attend daily standup meetings and coordinate with the team on discussions, code reviews and retrospectives.

It is important for this role to support match day operations, this means working on peak days which include the weekend, please see the specified working days in the Job Ad.

• Design, develop, and maintain .NET applications hosted on AWS.
• Work with Microsoft MSSQL databases to ensure efficient and scalable data management.
• Profile system performance, identify bottlenecks, and propose architectural solutions to enhance efficiency.
• Support match day experience (weekends) in the UK cricket season, by monitoring performance and responding to incidents as needed
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize production performance and reliability.
• Develop, test, and deploy new features while ensuring best practices in security and scalability.
• Monitor system health, troubleshoot issues, and implement improvements to ensure high availability.
• Stay up to date with emerging technologies and best practices in cloud computing and software development.

Preferred candidate profile

• 5+ years of experience in software development with a focus on AWS and .NET applications.
• Strong experience with Microsoft MSSQL, including database optimization and performance tuning.
• Proficiency in profiling system performance and diagnosing production issues.
• Ability to suggest and implement architectural changes to improve system scalability and efficiency.
• Experience working in an agile development environment.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to optimizing system performance.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Bonus points for experience with microservices architecture and cloud-native development.
