Agile Project Manager / Scrum Master


Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Agile Project Manager / Scrum Master to drive agile practices and ensure seamless execution of our product development initiatives. In this role, you will be responsible for planning and facilitating agile ceremonies, managing sprint execution and acting as a bridge between product, engineering, design & leadership teams. Your expertise will ensure that our projects remain on track, deliver high-quality results and continuously evolve through process improvement and stakeholder collaboration. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic start-up environment and is passionate about optimizing team performance and operational excellence.


Key Responsibilities:

Agile Processes & Sprint Management

  • Facilitate Agile Ceremonies:
    • Lead sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews and retrospectives.
    • Ensure that each meeting drives actionable insights and fosters team collaboration.
  • Sprint Backlog & Task Management:
    • Collaborate with Technical PM to prioritize and refine the backlog.
    • Structure work into epics, user stories, tasks and bugs using JIRA.
    • Oversee ticket creation, ensuring clarity in requirements, acceptance criteria, and documentation.
  • Resource & Capacity Planning:
    • Monitor team capacity and skill sets to assign work effectively.
    • Adjust sprint commitments based on resource availability and project priorities.

Team Coordination & Communication

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Act as the primary liaison among product management, engineering and design teams.
    • Ensure all team members understand the project objectives, timelines and deliverables.
  • Barrier Removal:
    • Identify potential roadblocks early and work with relevant stakeholders to resolve them.
    • Provide timely guidance and support to teams, ensuring issues are addressed before they impact sprint outcomes.
  • Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Regularly communicate project updates, risks and progress to senior leadership.
    • Manage expectations through effective, transparent communication with all stakeholders.

Performance Monitoring & Reporting

  • Sprint Reporting:
    • Generate detailed sprint reports and maintain dashboards to provide visibility into project progress.
    • Track key performance metrics (e.g., velocity, burn-down charts) and use them to inform continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Risk & Issue Management:
    • Proactively identify risks, track issues and implement mitigation strategies.
    • Escalate challenges when necessary and ensure they are resolved promptly.

Continuous Improvement & Process Optimization

  • Process Documentation:
    • Create, maintain and continuously update project documentation including sprint reports, meeting notes and best practice guidelines.
    • Develop and enforce standardized processes and agile methodologies across teams.
  • Feedback & Iteration:
    • Gather feedback from team members and stakeholders after each sprint.
    • Use retrospective insights to refine processes, improve workflows and drive overall team efficiency.
  • Training & Coaching:
    • Mentor team members on agile practices and encourage a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
    • Facilitate training sessions and workshops to onboard new team members to agile methodologies.

Tools & Technology Management

  • Project Management Software:
    • Optimize the use of tools like JIRA and any other relevant software.
    • Stay current on agile management tools and suggest enhancements to improve team productivity.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making:
    • Leverage project data and metrics to drive informed decisions and strategic adjustments.
    • Implement best practices to ensure accurate tracking of project progress and team performance.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Bachelors degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Certifications:
    • Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Professional Scrum Master (PSM) or equivalent agile certification is strongly preferred.
  • Experience:
    • 3+ years of experience as a Scrum Master or Agile Project Manager in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
    • Proven track record of managing cross-functional teams and delivering complex projects on time.
  • Technical Proficiency:
    • Strong familiarity with agile project management tools (e.g., JIRA) and related software.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Excellent communication, facilitation and conflict resolution skills.
    • Strong organizational skills with an ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
    • Adaptability and a problem-solving mindset to thrive in a start-up setting.
