NOC & SOC Engineer / Lead

• 10+ years of IT network operations experience.
• Able to work with minimal supervision and handle multiple concurrent tasks and projects.
• Documentation Strong support documenting procedures and diagrams (using Visio) supporting Data Centers and NOC.
• Perform discovery of existing infrastructure and setup Assess the current environment and provide proposals for optimization, cost savings, and security enhancements.
• Time Management Ability to prioritize workload and manage outages.
• Escalations – Analyze and troubleshoot alerts to quickly determine the course of action.
• Process Improvement – Always look for process improvement within NOC and for IT teams.
• Strong Communications – Strong written skills to send communication to all levels in the organization. Strong verbal skills adhering to the company’s customer-centric values and professionalism. Able to moderate conference calls to address conflict with others constructively to resolve issues and outages.
• Strong Team Player – Be proactive to ensure procedures are adhered to in the NOC and cross-train to enhance skill sets with peers.
• Worked with ITSM ticketing system using Cherwell/Jira.
• Advanced knowledge of TCP/IP, routing and switching, firewalls, and access points.
• Experience with configuring and managing effective monitoring – Setting up and tuning alerts for efficient monitoring.

Technical Skills & Troubleshooting

• Strong in diagnosing IT alerts, events, or issues daily.
• Solid background working with systems, networking, and hardware, e.g., Cisco routers, switches, UCS blades, Pure, Nimble, and systems such as Windows Server 2016/2019 and iOS.
• Proficient with Clo ud Platforms – Hands-on experience with Azure, AWS, and GCP (optional) networking (VNETs, Security Groups, VPNs).
• Experience with SD-WAN Solutions – Cisco SD-WAN (Viptela), Aruba, or Fortinet.
• Load Balancers – F5 Big-IP, Citrix ADC (NetScaler), or AWS ELB.
• Next-Gen Firewalls (NGFWs) – Palo Alto, FortiGate, SonicWall, or Check Point.
• Packet Analysis – Wireshark, tcpdump, or network flow analysis for troubleshooting.
• Monitoring & SIEM Tools – LogicMonitor, Splunk, VictorOps, IBM QRadar, ArcSight, Azure Sentinel, IBM X-Force, Malware Bazaar, Qualys Security Blog, CrowdStrike.
• Backup & DR Solutions – eVault, Cohesity, Veeam, Rubrik, Commvault, NetBackup, Druva, Acronis.
• Virtualization & Containers – VMware, vMotion, Docker, Kubernetes (AKS/EKS).
• Automation & Scripting – Python, PowerShell, Shell Scripting.
• IT Change & Problem Management – Familiar with ITIL frameworks.
• Security Operations Center (SOC) Tools & Expertise – Incident response and analysis, threat intelligence platforms, endpoint detection and response (EDR), security information and event management (SIEM) tools, forensic investigations.
• Threat Intelligence & Analysis – Experience with Microsoft Defender, advanced threat analysis, intrusion detection systems (IDS), intrusion prevention systems (IPS).
• Vulnerability Management & Compliance – Strong knowledge of vulnerability scanning tools like Nessus, Qualys, and Rapid7. Familiarity with compliance frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, and SOC 2.

Daily Operations

• Monitor and respond to alerts and current issues concerning IT operations and services.
• Respond, track, and resolve issues with ticketing systems and follow problem management guidelines.
• Work with vendors for maintenance, testing, and repair of IT systems and circuit issues.
• Direct and provide functional direction to IT staff (Support Technicians and Senior Systems Technicians).
• Recommend, author, publish, and maintain Data Center & Network Operations policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines.
• Ensure IT Change Management and Problem Management processes are followed.
• Conduct security monitoring and threat analysis – Review logs, SIEM alerts, and security dashboards to detect suspicious activities and mitigate potential breaches.
• Coordinate with security teams to implement incident response strategies – Work closely with SOC analysts to enhance security posture.

Preferred Qualifications

• CCNA certification
• MCSE certification
• Bachelor’s degree or above
• AWS and Azure Infrastructure experience
• CISSP, or Security+ certification preferred
