Using high-performance DNS services, Global Traffic Manager (GTM) scales and secures DNS infrastructure during high query volumes and DDoS attacks. GTM improves the performance and availability of your applications by intelligently directing users to the closest or best-performing physical, virtual, or cloud environment. In addition, enables mitigation of complex threats from malware and viruses by blocking access to malicious IP domains.
Position Summary
Our team is at the cutting-edge of DNS technology. We are focused on providing customers with solutions to improve access to applications by securing and accelerating Domain Name resolution in hybrid cloud environments. Our team collaborates with other F5 Modular BIG-IP development teams to produce unique opportunities for cross-team development projects.
This position is for a Principal Software Engineer with strong experience designing and developing application data management software in containerized and orchestrated environments. The engineer will collaborate with software architects and other technical leads to design software and interfaces for our next generation Modular BIG-IP.
We are looking for talented software engineers with a track record of accomplishment in the design, implementation and maintenance of major software features. Appropriate candidates should also have a knack for delving into complex deployment configurations and delivering rapid solutions to challenging problems.
Responsibilities
Serves as technical expert for the DNS module
Leads analysis of requirements and defines the design for new and modification of existing tools, utilities, environments, modules/systems
Provides technical leadership for the development of enterprise grade solutions for the F5 DNS products in containerized and orchestrated environments.
Plan and implement the design specifications for the engineering project.
Assists Architects and Managers with project scope and estimating
Sets the direction and assists with the technical workflow of other engineers within the scope of assigned projects.
Liaises with cross-functional teams to ensure that project is delivered in its entirety.
Act as a mentor for junior members of the team
Recommends and maintains technical design methodologies, processes and standards
Participates on cross functional design teams to develop expertise in other modules/systems
Engages with customers to address escalations and devise solutions
Engages with Product Management to drive detailed product requirements
Responsible for upholding F5 s Business Code of Ethics and for promptly reporting violations of the Code or other company policies.
Performs other related duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Expert Knowledge and extensive experience with vertical stack technologies.
Experience developing complex product development initiatives from concept through release.
Extensive development experience in embedded operating systems.
Exceptional problem solving.
Able to collaborate and thrive in a fast-paced high-performance environment.
Regularly finds ways to communicate widely through discussions, white papers, publications and other.
Regularly demonstrates collaboration by promoting others ideas, influencing others, and making teams successful.
Demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communications
Must be a Subject Matter Expert in multiple skill areas.
Duties are performed in a normal office environment while sitting at a desk or computer table.
Duties may require being on call periodically or working outside normal working hours (evenings and weekends). Duties may also require the ability to travel via automobile or airplane, approximately 5% of the time spent traveling.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 10 years of related experience with a Bachelor s degree; or 8 years and a Master s degree; or a PhD with 5 years experience; or equivalent experience.
