Team Introduction:
Expedia is transforming the way people search for and book travel. We create seamless and unforgettable experiences for travelers while driving success for our travel partners. As the Distribution and Supply team at Expedia, we manage Pricing, Inventory, Reservations, and Offers. Our goal is to provide travelers with the best prices across all travel categories hotels, vacation rentals, flights, cars, packages, and cruises while enabling them to book and manage their trips effortlessly.
We own the unified technical systems that power these functions, processing trillions of events at Expedias global scale. The Reservations team is responsible for handling bookings and servicing reservations across all Expedia Group points of sale. Our platform is built on a microservices architecture and operates in the cloud using Amazon Web Services. In this role, you will contribute to a key initiative aimed at making the reservation platform more extensible for product servicing while ensuring it remains highly scalable and resilient.
In this role, you will:
- Work on cutting edge technology for the providing world class developer experience, including exposure to open source tech.
- Work on improving Developer Experience by solving problems
- Develop new features leveraging Backstage, Stackstorm, LinearB and other platforms
- Proactively reaches out to meet peers across environment and collaborates to solve problems
- Takes advantage of opportunities to build new technical expertise in a specific engineering area
- Seeks knowledge from subject matter experts when needed
- Understands the importance of system and technology integration and the basic features and facilities involved in the integration process
- Develops and tests standard software applications , backstage plugins , new features and related programs and procedures to ensure they meet design requirements
- Applies software design principles, data structures and/or design patterns and computer science fundamentals to write code that is clean, maintainable, optimized, modular with good naming conventions
- Applies knowledge of database design to solve data requirements
- Helps coordinate stakeholder input and collaboration efforts when developing solutions to issues
- Thinks broadly and understand how, why and when policies/processes are standardized and when they differ across the organization
- Completes tasks and/or provides data to support implementation of holistic solutions that forge linkages between structure, people, process and technology
- Applies formal training methods to current workload. Feels comfortable challenging authority/the status quo
- Reports clearly on current work status
- Asks challenging questions when empowered to do so
Experience and qualifications:
- Bachelor s or Master s degree in Computer Science or in a related technical field; or equivalent related professional experience
- Experience in object-oriented design practices and development
- 2-4 years of experience in the field of Software Engineering (Agile practice)
- Experience working on Frontend Technologies - UI/UX Design components, React Framework, FIGMA mockup
- Familiarity with monitoring observability tools such as Data Dog, Splunk.
- Familiar with microservice design, continuous delivery, automated deployments, and related engineering practices.
- Understands of how projects fit together within their team and business need
- Understands moderately complex systems
- Tests and monitors their own code
- You have good communication skills with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally with a variety of stakeholde
