PHP Engineering Manager

Responsibilities include:

• Guide team development efforts towards successful project delivery.
• Provide technical leadership to teammates through coaching and mentorship.
• Maintain high standards of software quality within the team by establishing good practices and habits.
• Identify and encourage areas for growth and improvement within the team.
• Own technical change management, source code and technical documentation, utilizing best practices.
• Document and test using proven industry standard code analysing tools, implementing, and providing ongoing support for the applications.
• Master existing systems/application/product architecture and identify opportunities for short- and long-term improvement.
• Coordinate all stages of product development, from initial concept art to finalization and distribution.
• Provide architecture guidance with strong focus on solution architecture, architecture artifacts, performance, scaling, and security to produce scale-able, flexible, robust and efficient applications.
• Design and develop Collaboration solutions in PHP, employing standard design patterns and development practices.
• Mentor development teams on use of design patterns and evangelize software development practices and processes.
• Lead design reviews and code walkthroughs for small teams.
• Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans.
• Be an expert with Agile methodologies and deliver these processes throughout the organization.
• Run all scrum ceremonies for the team, including Daily Stand-up, Sprint Planning, Sprint Demo, Sprint Retrospective, and Backlog Grooming

Qualifications/Experience:

• Have a minimum of 12+ years of overall development experience using PHP and related Web application technologies.
• Strong proficiency in PHP and JavaScript development, with the ability to write clean, maintainable, and efficient code for scalable web applications.
• Expertise in MySQL, including designing optimized database tables and writing complex, performance-focused queries to support data-driven applications.
• Hands-on experience with Linux file systems, particularly managing and maintaining files stored on Linux mounts, ensuring seamless integration with application workflows.
• Proven ability to design and develop multi-tier, highly available, multi-threaded, and scalable architectures for large-scale web-based cloud services, ensuring reliability and performance under heavy workloads.
• Expert proficiency in building SaaS features from initial concepts and requirements, delivering intuitive and robust solutions for both front-end and back-end systems.
• Demonstrated success in refactoring legacy code to improve overall performance, maintainability, and scalability while adhering to best practices and design principles.
• Experience designing and implementing user interfaces using HTML, CSS, and jQuery, ensuring an engaging and responsive user experience.
• Highly developed oral and written communication skills as well as presentation skills.

Education

• Bachelors degree preferably in Engineering, Computer Science
