Job Description

Job Title : Accounts Executive (IPCC/CPT Qualified)

Location : Santacruz (West)

Department : Accounts/Finance

Reports To : Senior Accountant/Finance Manager

Position Type : Full-time

Job Overview :

We are looking for a detail-oriented and highly skilled Accounts Executive to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will have completed their IPCC (Integrated Professional Competence Course) and/or CPT (Common Proficiency Test) exams and possess practical experience in handling day-to-day accounting tasks, finalizing accounts, and preparing financial statements. The role requires the ability to close the books of accounts accurately and on time, ensuring compliance with applicable financial regulations.

Key Responsibilities :

Bookkeeping and Day-to-Day Accounts Management :

Maintain and manage all accounting records, including journal entries, ledger updates, and bank reconciliations.
Handle accounts payable and receivable, ensuring accurate invoicing, payment processing, and collections.
Ensure accurate posting of transactions and proper accounting of financial activities.
Prepare monthly and quarterly VAT/GST returns and ensure timely submission.

Finalization of Accounts :

Closely work with senior management to ensure timely and accurate closing of the books each month.
Assist in the preparation and finalization of annual financial statements, including balance sheet, profit and loss account, and cash flow statement.
Prepare schedules for auditors and facilitate the annual audit process.
Ensure that all transactions are recorded in compliance with accounting standards (e.g., GAAP, IFRS) and company policies.

Taxation and Compliance :

Ensure compliance with all tax regulations, including GST, income tax, and other statutory requirements.
Assist in the preparation and filing of corporate tax returns and other regulatory filings.
Monitor and manage the timely payment of taxes, avoiding penalties and late fees.
Maintain updated knowledge of changes in tax laws and regulations.

Reconciliation Reporting :

Perform bank reconciliations on a regular basis to ensure that financial records align with bank statements.
Reconcile accounts at the month-end and year-end close to ensure accuracy.
Prepare financial reports, including variance analysis, for management review.
Ensure all accounting transactions are supported by relevant documentation and approvals.

Internal Controls and Financial Integrity :

Review and monitor internal controls to prevent discrepancies or fraud.
Assist in the implementation of improved accounting processes, procedures, and controls.
Identify areas for cost optimization and improvements in accounting practices.

Assistance in Financial Analysis :

Provide support in financial forecasting and budgeting activities.
Assist in the preparation of management reports, highlighting key financial metrics and performance indicators.
Support management in decision-making by providing accurate and timely financial data.

Audit and Compliance Support :

Collaborate with external auditors and provide necessary documents for audit.
Assist in implementing corrective actions from audit recommendations.

Qualifications :

Education :
Minimum: Bachelors degree in Commerce (B.Com) or equivalent.
Must have cleared IPCC or CPT and pursuing/qualified CA (or equivalent) is a strong plus.

Experience :
Minimum 2-3 years of experience in accounting and finance roles, with hands-on experience in closing the books and finalizing accounts.
Experience in handling accounts up to finalization level, preparing financial statements, and handling tax compliance.

Skills :
Proficiency in accounting software (Tally, SAP, QuickBooks, or similar) and Microsoft Excel.
Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations.
Knowledge of taxation (GST, income tax, etc.) and compliance requirements.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Analytical skills to interpret financial data and provide actionable insights.
