About the Job :

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Database Engineer to join our team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust and scalable database systems. You will leverage your expertise in database architecture, performance tuning, and data management to ensure the integrity, availability, and security of our critical data assets. You will collaborate closely with development, operations, and business teams to deliver high-performance database solutions that support our growing business needs.

Key Responsibilities :

- Design and implement database schemas, data models, and architectures that meet business requirements.

- Evaluate and select appropriate database technologies and platforms.

- Develop and enforce database standards and best practices.

- Install, configure, and maintain database servers and related components.

- Perform database backups, restores, and disaster recovery planning.

- Monitor database performance and optimize queries, indexes, and configurations.

- Ensure database security and compliance with regulatory requirements.

- Identify and resolve database performance bottlenecks.

- Develop and implement performance tuning strategies.

- Conduct query optimization and index analysis.

- Design and implement ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes for data integration.

- Develop and maintain data pipelines and data warehousing solutions.

- Ensure data quality and consistency across integrated systems.

- Implement and maintain database security policies and procedures.

- Conduct security audits and vulnerability assessments.

- Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).

- Collaborate with development teams to design and implement database solutions.

- Provide technical guidance and support to other team members.

- Communicate effectively with stakeholders to understand requirements and provide updates.

- Document all database procedures.

- Automate database maintenance and deployment tasks.

- Implement Infrastructure as code.

Required Skills and Experience :

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (Master's preferred).

- 5+ years of experience as a Database Engineer or similar role.

- Extensive experience with relational database management systems (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server).

- Experience with NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra, Redis) is highly desirable.

- Strong understanding of database architecture, data modeling, and performance tuning.

- Proficiency in SQL and database programming languages (e.g., PL/SQL, T-SQL).

- Experience with ETL tools and data warehousing concepts.

- Knowledge of database security and compliance best practices.

- Experience with cloud-based database services (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database, Google Cloud SQL).

- Experience with database automation tools and scripting languages (e.g. Python, Bash).

- Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or Cloudformation.

- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
