Rigging Supervisor

Role & responsibilities

1. Supervision and Coordination:
   
• Lead and manage rigging teams, assigning tasks and monitoring performance.
• Plan, schedule, and oversee rigging operations to ensure timely completion of project goals.
• Communicate effectively with project managers, engineers, and other departments.
2. Planning and Execution:
   
• Assess project requirements and develop detailed rigging plans.
• Review blueprints, work drawings, and load specifications to determine rigging needs.
• Inspect and select appropriate rigging equipment (slings, ropes, hoists, cranes, etc.).
• Ensure proper rigging setup, testing, and securing of loads.
3. Safety and Compliance:
   
• Promote and enforce adherence to all safety protocols, industry standards, and company policies.
• Conduct regular safety briefings and toolbox talks for the rigging team.
• Monitor site conditions to identify and mitigate risks, ensuring a safe working environment.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of lifting procedures, OSHA regulations, and equipment certification.
4. Equipment Maintenance:
   
• Oversee inspection, maintenance, and inventory of rigging equipment.
• Report and coordinate repair or replacement of damaged tools and machinery.
• Ensure all rigging equipment meets safety and operational standards.
5. Training and Development:
   
• Train and mentor rigging crews to improve skills, productivity, and safety awareness.
• Develop and implement procedures for rigging operations and equipment handling.
6. Reporting and Documentation:
   
• Maintain accurate logs and records of rigging activities, safety checks, and incidents.
• Provide daily progress reports to management, noting any challenges or delays.
• Assist with incident investigations and provide recommendations for improvements.

Preferred candidate profile

1. Education & Certifications:
   
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certification in Rigging/Lifting Operations (e.g., NCCCO or equivalent).
• OSHA safety training certification (preferred).
2. Experience:
   
• Minimum 5-7 years of experience in rigging operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
• Proven experience working with heavy machinery, cranes, and complex rigging systems.
3. Skills and Competencies:
   
• Strong knowledge of rigging practices, equipment, and lifting techniques.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, load charts, and technical documents.
• Exceptional leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to work effectively with diverse teams.
• Proficiency in safety procedures and risk assessment.
4. Physical Requirements:
   
• Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in outdoor conditions.
• Physically fit to lift, carry, and operate rigging equipment.
