MS SQL Server Engineer

Job Summary:

• We are seeking a highly skilled MS SQL Server Engineer with 8+ years of experience to design, develop, and optimize data solutions for complex financial services applications.
• In this role, you will work as a key individual contributor, leveraging your expertise in MS SQL Server development, complex data modeling, and performance tuning.
• The ideal candidate thrives in solving challenging problems independently and has the ability to deliver efficient, high-quality database solutions in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience with Azure is a strong advantage but not a requirement.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Database Design and Development

• Design, develop, and maintain complex SQL queries and stored procedures to support financial services applications.
• Collaborate with business and engineering teams to translate requirements into efficient, scalable database solutions.
• Work with complex financial services data models, ensuring accuracy and adherence to industry standards.

2. Performance Optimization

• Conduct performance tuning for stored procedures, queries, and database operations to optimize execution times and reduce resource utilization.
• Analyze and resolve database bottlenecks by improving query efficiency, indexing, and schema design.
• Proactively monitor database performance and recommend improvements to maintain high availability.

3. Data Integrity and Problem Solving

• Develop solutions that ensure data consistency and integrity across complex datasets.
• Diagnose and resolve technical issues independently, demonstrating strong problem-solving skills and critical thinking.
• Apply industry best practices to ensure database security, maintainability, and operational excellence.

4. Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, product managers, and data analysts, to ensure seamless integration of database solutions.
• Act as a trusted subject matter expert for MS SQL Server development within the team.
• Provide clear and concise communication of technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

5. Cloud Readiness (Nice to Have)

• Leverage experience with Azure SQL Database or Azure cloud services to support migration, optimization, or integration efforts (preferred but not required).

Qualifications:

Education:

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Experience:

• 6-8 years of hands-on experience as an MS SQL Server Developer, including expertise in:
• Complex stored procedure development.
• Advanced SQL query creation and maintenance.
• Working with complex financial services data models.
• Proven experience in performance tuning of stored procedures and optimizing SQL queries in MS SQL Server.

Technical Skills:

• MS SQL Server Expertise: Advanced proficiency in T-SQL, stored procedure development, and query optimization.
• Financial Data Modeling: Strong familiarity with complex financial services data structures and use cases.
• Performance Tuning: Proven ability to diagnose and optimize performance issues in large-scale databases.
• Azure (Nice to Have): Familiarity with Azure SQL Database, Azure cloud tools, or hybrid cloud integration is preferred but not required.
