Director of HW Engineering

About this opportunity:

Position Overview: We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senior Director of Hardware Engineering to build and lead our hardware engineering team in India. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success in hardware design, leadership, and collaboration with overseas partners. This role will be critical in driving the development of our next-generation cellular and Wi-Fi enterprise-class routers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Recruit, build, lead and manage the hardware engineering team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Drive the hardware design and development process, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, reliable products that meet market demands and customer needs.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including firmware/software engineering, product management, and operations, to align hardware engineering efforts with company objectives.
• Manage relationships with overseas ODM (Original Design Manufacturer) and JDM (Joint Design Manufacturer) partners, ensuring effective communication, program management and collaboration to meet project timelines and quality standards.
• Oversee the development of cellular and Wi-Fi enterprise-class routers, ensuring adherence to industry standards and best practices.
• Provide strategic direction and guidance to the hardware engineering team, setting clear goals and objectives to drive performance and innovation.
• Influence senior leadership through effective communication and presentation of technical strategies and initiatives.
• Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies, identifying opportunities to enhance our hardware offerings and maintain a competitive edge.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor s or Master s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 10 years of engineering experience, with a strong focus on hardware design.
• At least 5 years of leadership and people management experience, with a proven ability to lead and inspire engineering teams.
• Deep understanding of hardware design principles, methodologies, manufacturing and best practices.
• Experience working with overseas ODM and JDM partners, with a demonstrated ability to manage complex, global projects.
• Expertise in developing cellular and Wi-Fi enterprise-class routers, with a deep understanding of the associated technologies and market requirements.

Preferred Skills:

• Strong background in Electrical Engineering (EE), Computer Engineering (CE), or Mechanical Engineering (ME) design.
• Experience in program management, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
• Proven ability to influence senior leadership and drive strategic initiatives.
• Demonstrated engineering leadership, with a track record of delivering successful hardware products.
