Job Description
As an API Technical Architect within the API Office Services Team, you will be accountable for strategizing and solutioning capabilities that support the API development lifecycle, and for promoting the products and services that will enable the developer community to deliver quality APIs and reduce time to market.
As an API Technical Architect in the API Office, you must be able to design solutions based on the API-First approach and have a strong focus on developer experience. The solutions you design must be secure, scalable, maintainable, and in alignment with portfolio objectives. You must combine advanced technical skills with interpersonal skills as you will collaborate with cross-functional teams across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Product Owners, engineers, and other stakeholders to define API requirements and use cases
- Lead the design and development of API solutions adhering to organizational principles, standards, and best practices
- Advise product development teams on standards and best practices of API Lifecycle Management and promote an API First culture
- Stay updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in API architecture and integration
- Steer the API development life cycle from design to monitoring
- 10-15 years of relevant IT industry experience
- 5+ years of experience in architecting, leading, and supporting scalable applications/API solutions
- Proficiency in HTTP-based system integrations, web services architecture, and API development life cycle
- Expertise in designing APIs using Open API Specification and managing API platforms
- Strong background in CI/CD automation using tools like GitHub
- Knowledge of API security standards including oAuth2.0/OpenID Connect
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Capability to quickly learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with contract testing and mocking services
- Skills in Java Spring Boot
- Experience as a Dell Boomi Architect
- Competency in Agile product development methods
- Experience in API governance and evangelizing API best practices
- Background in designing APIs with a consumer-driven design approach
- Experience in mentoring and training development
- Hands-on experience with API Gateway tools (preferably Axway API Gateway) and APIs
