Senior Design Engineer

We are looking for a Senior Design Engineer to join our team at Baaz Bikes, driving the development and design of next-generation swap stations. This role demands expertise in mechanical design, systems integration, and product development, with a passion for innovation and sustainable mobility.

Role & responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end design process of swap stations, ensuring designs meet performance, safety, and regulatory standards.
• Work extensively with sheet metal and tubular frame structures to develop robust and efficient designs.
• Develop 3D models and detailed drawings using CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA).
• Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) to ensure precision in designs.
• Select materials and manufacturing processes to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and sustainability.
• Collaborate with teams for prototyping, testing, and optimization to enhance product performance and durability.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate batteries, charging systems, sensors, and control systems seamlessly.
• Stay updated on trends and identify opportunities for product innovation

Qualifications:

• Bachelors/Masters in Mechanical Engineering or a related field from Top Universities/Tier-1
• 3+ years of experience in mechanical design, preferably in electric mobility, automation or automotive.
• Proficiency in CAD tools and simulation software (e.g., FEA, CFD).
• Expertise in GD&T and its application in mechanical design is very important.
• Strong understanding of materials, manufacturing, and prototyping techniques.
• Experience with integrating charging systems, batteries and electronic components.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.

Preferred candidate profile

• First-hand knowledge of sheet metal design and tubular frame design including taking designs for manufacturing at scale.
• Hands on experience with structural panels and enclosure design and manufacturing.
• Having worked on a product that is deployed in unsupervised environments will be good to have.
• Knowledge of lightweight materials and sustainable design principles.
• Hands-on experience with rapid prototyping tools (3D printing, CNC).
