Role & responsibilities

Key Purpose of the Job :

The Senior Design Engineer / Design Engineer is responsible for design and development of complex subsystems, parts, component and products. Design integration and application of new technology is critical to the role holder. The role holder is responsible for coordinating and directing team efforts to ensure efficient engineering design as per defined scope and targets in projects and programs that meet manufacturing requirements with strong adherence to expected development timelines.

Key Responsibilities :

• Responsible for ensuring delivery of projects as per timelines, quality and cost targets.
• Study and analyze project proposals and plan for allocation of work based on availability of skill sets and work loads.
• Collaborate with for validating project concept, ensure changes are made as appropriate to document / drawings based on inputs from Marketing.
• Update estimates, schedules, budgets, reports and design control documents based on revisions and changes to product designs and research projects
• Design and develop subsystems and packages and provide technical support in product development.
• Lead design process / reviews and ensure best design practices, industry standards and governing body regulations are applied during design process.
• Review and analyze the design to ensure feasibility of product concept, make changes as appropriate.
• Create complex part designs and drawings using design tools including SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
• Review and monitor project milestones and conduct technical reviews for projects in adherence to ELGi Product Development Process.
• Collaborate for testing, validation and proto manufacturing to ensure project deliverables as per timelines.
• Conduct design and process improvement studies and ensure cost, quality, project timeline deliverables are achieved.
• Responsible for supervising development work and managing projects and team resources.

Educational Qualification / Experience required :

• Graduate / Post Graduate in Engineering.
• Experience of 2 to 8 years in product design and development.
• Should possess expert knowledge in Solidworks.
• Should have knowledge of material sciences.
• Should possess knowledge of Machine design, Applied Mechanics.
• Should also have basic knowledge of protomanufacturing and processes.
