JOB PROFILE: - Safety Officer

Qualification: Graduate/ Postgraduate along with the diploma in Industrial Safety

Experience: 5 yrs exp in Occupational Health & Safety

• Create, update, and enforce safety policies in compliance with national regulations (e.g., OSHA, local safety standards) and corporate requirements.
• Develop and implement safety procedures tailored to specific projects, especially those involving construction, renovations, or major office relocations.
• Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential hazards in both office and project environments and develop strategies to mitigate them.
• Organize regular training sessions on workplace safety for all employees. This includes fire drills, first aid training, ergonomic practices, and hazard recognition.
• Provide specialized safety training for employees involved in projects, especially for those handling machinery, hazardous materials, or working at elevated heights.
• Conduct safety inductions for contractors and new employees, ensuring they are aware of the corporate safety culture and specific site risks.
• Conduct routine safety inspections of the office premises and ongoing project sites to identify potential hazards.
• Oversee the maintenance of emergency equipment (fire extinguishers, first-aid kits, etc.) and ensure regular drills (fire, earthquake, evacuation procedures) are conducted.
• Ensure that all office operations and project activities comply with local, state, and national occupational safety regulations.
• Maintain records of safety audits, incidents, inspections, and corrective actions. Prepare reports as required by HO and regulatory authorities.
• Lead investigations into workplace accidents, near misses, or unsafe incidents, and determine root causes.
• Ensure that all safety incidents are promptly reported, documented, and analysed to prevent recurrence.
• Recommend corrective and preventive actions, and work with HR and management to implement them.
• Conduct periodic audits to assess the effectiveness of safety programs and ensure that all project-specific safety protocols are being followed.
• Develop and maintain emergency response plans for various scenarios, including office evacuations, medical emergencies, and project-specific emergencies (e.g., chemical spills, equipment accidents).
• Conduct safety assessments prior to starting new projects (construction, renovation, new office setups, etc.) to identify potential hazards.
• Ensure that contractors working on projects follow the corporate safety protocols and verify their safety training and certifications.
• Oversee day-to-day safety on project sites to ensure safe work practices are followed, especially if the project involves high-risk activities (e.g., lifting, electrical work, confined spaces).
• Track and report on key safety performance indicators (KPIs) such as injury rates, incident frequency, training completion rates, and audit results.
• Compile lessons learned from safety incidents and audits, and ensure that these lessons are incorporated into future safety training and project planning
• Regularly report safety performance to senior management and provide recommendations for improving safety standards and practices.
