Linux Administrator

We are seeking an experienced Linux Server Administrator to manage and maintain our Linux-based systems. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the installation, configuration, and maintenance of servers, ensuring their optimal performance and security. This role requires a proactive individual with strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.

Key Responsibilities:

Server Management:

• Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers (e.g., Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu, Debian).
• Manage system performance and monitor server health to ensure high availability.
• Perform routine server maintenance, including patch management and updates.

Security Administration:

• Implement and maintain security measures, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and access controls.
• Conduct regular security audits, vulnerability assessments, and apply security patches.
• Manage user permissions and authentication systems (e.g., LDAP, PAM, Active Directory integration).

Monitoring and Troubleshooting:

• Monitor server performance and system logs using tools like Nagios, Zabbix, or Grafana.
• Identify and resolve hardware, software, and network-related issues.
• Respond to and troubleshoot server outages and incidents promptly.

Backup and Recovery:

• Design and manage backup strategies for critical data and configurations.
• Test and implement disaster recovery plans to minimize downtime during failures.

Network and Storage Management:

• Configure and manage server network settings, including DNS, DHCP, and VPNs.
• Manage storage systems such as RAID configurations, SAN/NAS, and logical volume management (LVM).

Scripting and Automation:

• Develop and maintain automation scripts (e.g., Bash, Python, Ansible) to streamline administrative tasks.
• Implement and maintain configuration management tools (e.g., Puppet, Chef, or Ansible).

Collaboration and Documentation:

• Work closely with development, DevOps, and network teams to meet infrastructure needs.
• Create and maintain detailed documentation for system configurations, processes, and procedures.

Experience:

• Proven experience in Linux server administration (3+ years for mid-level, 7+ years for senior roles).
• Hands-on experience with virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, KVM, Hyper-V).
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
