Role Description

  • This specialized role entails day to day compliance, advisory, regulatory advocacy, monitoring and testing, compliance risk assessment for International Private Bank (IPB) division of Deutsche Bank India regulated by RBI.
  • Compliance works closely with IPB business to assist with the management of regulatory risks.

Your key responsibilities

  • The Compliance Department seeks to protect the Bank s licenses to operate by promoting and enforcing adherence with laws, regulations, rules, expectations of regulators, the standards of self-regulatory organizations, and codes of conduct / ethics in connection with the Bank s regulated activities. Compliance also take a leading role in driving a culture of compliance and ethical conduct in the Bank.
  • DB Compliance is seeking a highly motivated individual with expertise in managing compliance matters pertaining to PB s activities. Incumbent would be required to support business and our strategy to provide Compliance coverage for the entity and PB business. The role will focus on advisory, Business Compliance, Infra Compliance, Central Compliance, Testing and Assurance activities and will work closely with the business and associated support functions and will have ultimate responsibility for managing compliance matters pertaining to the IPB. The role also envisages support to the broader Compliance function across the Bank in India and other regional offices in areas of monitoring and testing and other internal projects, on a need basis.
  • The role will be governed by RBI circular on compliance functions in Banks and role of Chief compliance officer.
  • Among other things it requires to ensure strict observance of all statutory and regulatory requirements for the Bank, including standards of market conduct, managing conflict of interest, treating customers fairly and ensuring the suitability of customer service. The Compliance officer shall be a point of contact between the Bank and the regulators / supervisors and a participant in the structured or other regular discussions held with RBI. Compliance would own the Compliance Policy of Bank and carry out annual compliance risk assessment and frame a compliance programme with the approval of the Board.
  • The role will involve working closely with the business, operations, and other compliance partners to ensure that the regulations in India are implemented as per the firm s policies and standards, as well as local laws and regulations.
  • The role will focus on PB Business but will require to ensure consistency in approach with our global policies and procedures. The role will involve multiple exposures & stakeholders and will require evaluating & advising on new & existing regulations. It will also involve working with other legal entities within the DBAG Group in order to lend support to Compliance activities.
  • The role will also entail regulatory risk management for the risk taxonomies owned by Compliance and Anti Financial Crime.

Your skills and experience

  • Minimum 8+ years of regulatory and risk review management experience with a financial institution or professional firm (preferably a Bank or NBFC).
  • Professionally qualified (CA/CS/MBA). Financial, regulatory and legal qualifications would be an advantage (FRM, ACAMS. CFA).
  • Strong product and local market knowledge of financial markets, Banking regulations, Credit Lending Regulations and preferably familiar with SEBI rules around PMS and NCD listing
  • Strong control focused review skills combined with knowledge of regulatory concepts and their practical application in operational processes and products. Good understanding of the industry and risk management practices, knowledge of regulations, legal requirements, and have sensitivity to Supervisory expectations.
  • The candidate should be 'Fit and Proper as required under RBI regulations
  • Take ownership for own career management, seeking opportunities for continuous development of personal capability and improved performance contribution
  • Act as a role model for new employees, providing help and support to facilitate early integration and assimilation of their new environment
  • Strong communication, analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills combined with the ability to articulate these skills at a senior level.
  • Experience in AML/CFT matters and KYC laws will be an advantage.
